the way they handled the door busters, the big flat screens that were deeply discounted. they actually gave them claim check tickets if you will. so there were only 35 of them. you had a number, 1 through 35. you didn't have to body-check people to get in to get back to the tv. you already had a claim on it. we talked to a woman earlier, she and her friend came away with three of those. they managed to do a little teamwork and got all the tvs they needed in addition to other items. they want to get you in the door with the door busters and to spend more than you had planned and buy some full-prizced items or items that are not quite as deeply discounted. this is the biggest shopping day and a shorter season. taking a quick look at some of the items that people are ringing up, it is interesting. they have the electronics. we talked about the big tvs, the beats head phones being discounted. one thing they are doing with apple and the ipad, is that they generally don't allow retailers to lower the prices and put apple prices on sale. apple doesn't. target offering gift cards

especially last night when door busters happened at walmart. a lot of deals at 6:00 p.m. and then at 8:00 p.m. and then at 12:00 p.m. same thing at target. they were releasing deals throughout the night. i'm functioning a little bit -- not very much sleep but i was there covering it for everyone. >> did this pay off for them opening on thanksgiving day? you mentioned walmart. what kind of numbers did they do? >> they released numbers, they were saying about 5 million people coming through the stores at of 7:15 this morning. just to give you an idea they sold about 2 million tvs. they sold 1.4 million tablets and around a million towels. >> towels. who is getting towels? >> i had to throw that in there. yes, people are buying towels. you're seeing a lot of volume in here. same thing with target. julia was saying ipad sold out. zoom the robot dog sold out as well. >> we're talking about going to the store. some people don't want that some people waiting until cyber monday. some want to sit home and do that thing. are you better off going to the store in terms of the deals?
