live in annapolis, jeff goldberg, abc7 news. leon: thank you. one of the common things we hear is the emergency response last night was nothing short of phenomenal. ambulances arrived almost instantaneously taking people who had survived in the crash to ten different area hospitals. one of them is temple university hospital. that is where suzanne kennedy is standing by. what is the latest from there? suzanne: the good news is the number of patients here is declining. two more have been discharged within the last few hours. leaving the number of patients here at the hospital at 22. eight in critical condition. a few need surgery tomorrow. that passenger was able to walk away from the derailment. others had to be taken on stretchers and were transported to a dozen philadelphia hospitals. with 50 injured passengers taken to temple university hospital where this afternoon the chief medical officer updated patient conditions. >> the most challenging injuries have been a lot of rib fractures. i was startled to hear as we ran down the list of the patie

annapolis at 63. temperatures will continue to fall a little bit more before they head back to the lower 70s this afternoon. by lunch time 68 degrees. highs today in the lower 70s. >> reporter: breaking overnight five people have been shot, one dead. the scene is cleared. police just left here a few minutes ago here on pard road. but before they left, they were really focusing on this area in the 4700 block in front of a house. they also towed away a white maxima with maryland plates. i hope we can look at some video now of the scene when we first arrived. this happened just before midnight last night and police tell us that they don't know exactly what happened. they don't know who is to blame for this. we don't have a motive. we don't have a suspect and it's not clear the circumstances surrounding this shooting. what they can tell us is that five men were shot. one did end up dying. all five men were taking to the hospital and one of those men did die while he was at the hospital. police are now ask

sam sweeney continues our team coverage in annapolis. sam: good afternoon. the superintendent of the u.s. naval academy calls this a tragic loss for the entire community. his friends also spoke at the press conference, calling justin zemser a natural leader, inspiration, and destined to be an elite navy seals we learned that simms or had already gone home for summer break. then he came back to help the freshman team with one of the most intense physical training exercises of the year. that took place beginning at 3:00 on the morning on tuesday. immediately following that event, zemser was headed home where he was killed on that train. today, his remains and rabbi spoke highly of him, saying he attended services each and every saturday. he had just come back from israel. listen to what his friends had to say. >> it is -- i mean, i have never gone through something like this before. i only knew him for two years but i was closer with him -- i knew more about him and he knew more about me. we were closer than i am with any friend i have had my entire life. at t
