notice the wind direction still coming out of the south over the delaware valley, south jersey and delaware. that's keeping the temperatures pretty mild, low and mid 70's this hour but there's a cold front cutting across pennsylvania right now. on the flip side of the front you get more of a northerly breeze. look at the temperatures. 52 in buffalo, 61 in pittsburgh, so that cool, drier air will start to filter in to the delaware valley in the overnight into tomorrow. there were stronger thunderstorms earlier this evening out across pittsburgh but as the front progresses eastward, a lot of the moisture is going to start falling apart and you can see that over the past few hours, those showers starting to break up. may get a sprinkle or two through the overnight hours to early tomorrow morning, most areas just stay dry. front clears our area for sunday. nice northerly push of air will start to cool us down and push all that humidity out and breezes continues out of the northeast on monday, stays dry with high pressure over us. temperatures only in the mid 70's. the highs over new england sti

delaware animal control is under investigation. a family claims the agency made them keep a stray dog that later attacked and killed their family pet. the family says they fond a stray rottweiler and took it home. and when animal control arrived, the family says the officer showed them a sec dog believed to be relevant to the other stray and forced them to keep that second dog as well. the family says both dogs attacked and killed their pet dog louie. but attorneys for animal control say the family was warned and officers offered to introduced the dogs to avoid an issue. >> does not appear as though delaware cointy animal control did anything other than act carefully, consistently and in a caring manner. >> now the chester county spca has stopped taking animals from delaware county animal control. animal control is suing the shelter saying it conspired to put them out of business. that incident comes days after another dog died while in the custody of upperç darby animal control. a dog died after spending two hours in this van. t

delaware legislators passed a law to let parents opt out. the governor vetoed it. >> all of a sudden the governor seems to know best, as far as education goes, tries to circumvent what people wanted. that's wrong. >> reporter: the governor and education secretary says it shows where kids need improvement but some teachers tell us they don't get the information quickly enough to matter. >> some of our members still haven't seen the scores from last year, so how can they use this to course correct in the middle of the year to address the needs of their students? >> reporter: there's the board of education building, department of education building. parents just now getting results for the tests their kids took in the spring. legislators could override the governor's opt-out veto in january. at the local level, some parents already opted their kids out last year, they don't think it's a valuable tool and the governor and a lot of other people, to be fair, they disagree, they say the test is an important one. live in dover, tim furlong, nbc 10 n
