. >> this was the scene in allentown where a light snow fell and just a coating similar to yesterday's brief squalls, for a look at what is happening now lets go outdoors to david murphy with your forecast. >> the first thing to tell you is it's cold out there. in the 30s in philadelphia and if you are headed out do make sure you take along a heavy coat. take a look at satellite first of all you we see predawn snow showers and now everything supnorth and you get a much clearer vision of what is going on now. the ban of snow in allentown is now shifting to the east and going right through easton, fairly steady doesn't last real long but with temperatures below freezing and back toward hamburg. and adhering to surfaces, and untreated roads, may have a problem, you may have to slow it down and we are look agent a coating to inch of accumulation too. up in the poconos farther north a couple of inches in spots. not a major snow enough with the sub freezing temperatures to give you problems potentially. 35 in philadelphia and i mention it is still chilly. 34 down south in washington, we add

some neighborhoods colder than others. 39 degrees in allentown. wilmington, in the 40s to start with. showers are a problem this morning, not really a big problem, very light showers. you see the chester county, abington, probably get a few rain drops. but there's more wet west to the west. this is coming in during the morning hours and then it quickly exits for this afternoon. let's go by hour by hour. 5:00 this morning. 40 degrees. here come the showers, they move in this morning. 7:00, rain moving into reading, pottstown, allentown, millville. steadier at 9:00, temperatures in the 44s. a little steadier in cape may, that's where we'll see a little more rainfall west of the area. a tenth of an inch of rain. 10:00, those showers are in new jersey by noon time, breaks of sunshine. and the temperatures close to yesterday's level at 54 degrees. that's what we hit yesterday afternoon. a little warmer during the day today. but it will be breezy. and that wind is going to bring in colder air for the weekend. 20s saturday and sunday morning. and afterno

and just 22 in allentown at this early hour. again, not a lot of wind but certainly cold enough for gloves, coats and maybe a little bit of a hat, too, just 'cause it is on the cold side. cape may is about the high water mark with temperatures and it's only the freezing mark there. once we get rid of these morning snow showers there's a chance of additional snow shower activity up in the northern suburbs especially allentown northern bucks and northern montco. that continues until 12:30 this afternoon. after that we start to build this back down toward philadelphia with a rain shower closer to the city itself. and a couple of more snow showers up north and then finally later this evening it looks like this all gets out of here. most of the afternoon precipitation is north of philadelphia but if you catch a little rain shower in the city this afternoon don't be surprised. also, in those northern areas where it's all snow, a coating to an inch is possible in allentown, kutztown maybe as far south as quakertown. if you're traveling
