but we are told that they recently graduated from the oakland fire academy. meanwhile, over in oakland, firefighters are in mourning learning that two of their own were shot and killed in san jose, leaving a family-friendly event. the lights over 280 in san jose in the early-morning hours. the procession of oakland firefighters was on the way to valley medical center after learning a san jose shooting left one of their own dead and another badly wounded. the two off-duty oakland firefighters were leaving a night market at a brewing company at 9:30 p.m. when they were shot at 7th and taylor streets. the shooter got away. >> when officers arrived, they located two victims who were suffering from at least one gunshot wound each. those two victims were transported to a local area hospital. >> reporter: a 30-year-old oakland firefighter was pronounced dead at the hospital. the second victim a 26-year-old was listed in stable condition. firefighters went to the hospital. >> there is a close bond that officers and firefighters share. and we suffer when they suffer.
