three southern california counties are already in a state of severe drought. more than half the state is at least abnormally dry right now. with no significant rain on the horizon, is it to early to start worrying? we have that story coming up. >> our chief meteorologist says we won't see you rain in the bay area for some time.>>> we have an active storm track. there are storms but no storms coming here. there headed toward the pacific northwest. a ridge of high pressure sitting off toward the northwest. the storm track has been deflected toward the north. remaining there for the foreseeable future. we will remain absolutely and completely rain free over the next week. the bay area sitting at 62%. not horrible but not good either. the snowpack sitting at 27%. thank goodness for last year's snow. that is water in the reservoir. still amazingly, above average for this time of year at 106%. it's worth noting the official drought monitor has no drought conditions at all for the bay area. the draft is spreading and getting worse in central and southern california.

so it looks like maybe southern california will get a few showers early next week. doesn't look like it's going the reach the bay area. we highlighted the areas ier, but it's worth showing you again. north to northeast winds, up to 55 miles an hour gusts mainly up in the hills here and we could see the possibility of some downed trees or perhaps even power lines. be careful heading out. as we go through the afternoon you will notice that the morning hours shows the wind gusts along the coast 22 to 34 miles an hour winds. and then through the arch, the colors -- you can see the shades come in to napa, the delta here, with winds dpusing over 30 miles an hour at 5:00 this afternoon. and then right through the evening hours. this is 11:00, and we still have the gusty winds. breezy around the bay. so that in and of itself will make it feel a bit cooler. skipping ahead to tomorrow, we will look for noticeably cooler conditions. upper 50s along the coast. and then for monday, the cooling continues. look at all the low 60s around the bay. even inland. but by tuesday looking

low pressure continues to rotate through southern california. you can see the showers on doppler radar. it is widely scattered and there is even some snow over the mountains. we've seen a few clouds today but it has remained dry locally. dress warmly if you're going out tonight. its still chilly and breezy. in fact, it will be a bit windy again especially in the north bay tonight before winds decrease tomorrow morning. on the satellite image you can the low and the high pressure trying to build in behind it. that low will actually move back off the coast before moving back on shore later in the week. the pattern is starting to look more active now but there are no major storms on the horizon. it will be a cold night with lows dipping into the low 30s and 40s. highs tomorrow will be in the 50s to mid 60s with mostly sunny skies. a weak weather system will bring a few more clouds and cool temperatures on wednesday. sunny and warmer weather with breezy conditions are expected friday and into the weekend.
