janis mackey frayer has the latest from thailand this morning. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, savannah. they are tired, barefoot, they have been sitting in total darkness. these 12 boys and their coach are alive. now the big challenge. getting them out. this remains a very risky rescue operation. none of the boys know how to swim. they need to be taught, basic diving skills to swim out in tight passageways that are a challenge for experienced divers, which is why they are saying this could take a while, it could take weeks, even months in order to get these boys to safety. they are taking in food, freshwater and medicine. there are medics now caring for the boys. they are apparently in stable condition with no severe injuries but they are exhausted and they are hungry. they haven't eaten in more than a week. meanwhile, more than a thousand people are involved in the rescue effort. and they are working around the clock. they have the pumps going to try to get the water levels down. the biggest thing working against them now is the weathe
