the colours of aya hachem, in blackburn, drug dealing across county lines, the grooming of teenage girls in rochdale — major cases like these with numerous defendants are complex, time—consuming and costly. they often require the use of up to three more courts, putting a strain on the rest of the legal system. but now the country�*s first super court, here in manchester, aims to improve efficiency. to get these sorts of cases on these very large cases, we have had to be using more than one court room just for the one trial. this court room will enable us to use all of our court rooms for trials concurrently, so that will mean that we can get more cases on. the pandemic has caused a backlog of 58,000 cases, but less than 1% are gang—related. unless the ministry ofjustice is four says this super court will make a difference. we have invested £2.5 million here to vastly change the nature of this court room. so we have completely remodelled it, we have extended the size of the dock so that we can have more defendants. walls have been demolished to make this super court triple the si
