dana: it's a great point. we are looking at potentially breaking a record in terms of -- we're moving into the fall, so we will see how that goes. but certainly chatter around direction is more and more noticed with those we talked to. depending on how the debt ceiling debate goes, depending on infrastructure spending, there's a lot that markets will have to digest in the last few months of the year. and of course, tapering, probably by the end of the year. haidi: what happens if american workers continue to see inflation-adjusted pay cuts? the impact on lower wage growth. what does that do to the consumer piece of an investing strategy? dana: great question. differences in wage exchange is happening differently. is it even across the board? no, and on top of that you have increases in other costs. i think it is something the fed will pay attention to. notwithstanding that parts of price increases will not go away anytime soon, three-year surveys looking at potentially 4% inflation, that might be a little high

the white house, dana was pushing ron klain on this yesterday for clarity, i think, for everyone, and it seems like their stance is we bought enough boosters. we have them. we're waiting on the fda and we don't know when that's going to be. >> yeah, poppy, and the white house had been hoping that they would have two versions of a covid-19 booster shot available for that september 20th rollout. it appears that that initial plan is now taking a hit. officials are saying that pfizer appears to be on track to be approved before that date, but moderna might take a little bit longer. as officials are saying, they need more time to review that data, which they initially found to be inadequate. but the white house is also insisting that no covid-19 booster shots will be administered without fda approval, and then the recommendation of the cdc. it's arguing that they set that september 20th target so that a plan was in place that once the formal approval came through, they'd be ready to roll out those shots immediately. take a listen to a bit of what white house chief of staff ron klain had to

good morning. >> reporter: good morning, dana. the nursing home patients forced to endure hurricane ida in the building behind me have since been transferred to other housing. the state department of health shut down those seven nursing homes that brought them here. we spoke with one nurse who saw firsthand the desperate conditions inside. >> they were hungry. they were thirsty. they was crying for -- out. they was in pain. it was just very sad. >> reporter: nurse natalie henderson rode out the hurricane inside a warehouse here in independence, louisiana, where hundreds of nursing home residents were packed in just before ida hit. these images show patients on mattresses on the floor with no social distancing. health officials were told the residents were not being fed or changed. five of the seven deaths here were storm related. >> the whole place is reeking of urine and feces, on top of them trying to eat. they're begging for water. >> reporter: the owner of the seven nursing homes behind the move tried to downplay the tragedy l
