you see this is south lake tahoe proper. but there are spot fires that continue to jump ahead of this thing to the east towards nevada. you see these little pockets of fire. well, if they don't control those those will merge with the larger fire and that will really embolden this thing to make a hard charge towards nevada, especially if the winds pick up. so that's an area of focus. and then also as we head down south here a little bit. has been one of the main areas where resources have been sent done a great job of protecting kirkwood proper in those snowmaking machines, firing water. it kirkwood heavenly they were doing at sierra at tahoe and here's silver lake. that's a lake with a lot of granite around it. the fire hasn't gone. there. but today they have really made a priority of keeping the fire north of highway 88 here you see this is highway 88 along kirkwood and look at all the spotting in this region right here. so crews are trying to keep this thing from jumping highway 88 like it did highway 50 earlier. so that i

they've been around south lake tahoe. lot of the vulnerable pressed up against some of the while and is cut dozer lines around a lot of the neighborhoods in christmas valley yesterday. the weather really works in favor of the firefighters. they were able to keep the flames away from most of the homes protected. most of the homes in christmas valley. and that's great news. the weather kind of calm down for them and give them a bit of a break to do that. they also did a lot of vegetation clearing on highway 50 in and around the christmas valley up around echo summit as well. this is all very good for firefighters because it gives them an extra buffer and hopefully moving forward. the weather continues to work in their favor. one of things that notice here in south lake tahoe and a lot of the neighborhoods you'll see bulldozers stationed around the area and you'll see them working cutting lines just to make sure that if the flames from this way, the have an extra layer of protection cutting those fire breaks in south lake ta

those flames away from areas like myers in south lake tahoe. we replaced a southwesterly wind with the northerly wind. and it's a very, very calm wind at that. so overwhelmingly good conditions this morning. at least compared to where we had been. it's nice to share some good news with you up there and you know fire crews up there just nonstop trying to get things under control in these areas. as for our with gusts, even less impressive kirkwood, 4 mile per hour wind gust 7 miles per hour. at times, not looking at a windy morning in the least bit. now, as far as smoke goes, we have settled back with some haze out there for sure. it's not an overwhelmingly smoky forecast for us. obviously the worst impact of that is across the very northern tier. the state. but we will have a hazy weekend ahead. severe respiratory conditions. maybe not the best one for a long hike or something like that. limit outdoor exposure. if you know your sensitivities to that smoke. high pressure is building in. so it's about to get hotter. it's about to get easier. and t
