good morning, i'm charley crowson. >> i'm megan pringle. we want to let you know in kent and queen anne's county there's a 90-minute delay for school, and in queen anne no morning pre-k. >> the storms were bad out there. lynette, you've been watching this. >> coming in it was very bad outside, very hectic. we do have a dense fog advisory for 8:00 this morning for this area shade inside the gray color. we're looking at cecil county and hartford county, northern baltimore county, the city and also as we head south in anne arundel county. so this is what we can expect through 8:00 and even once 8:00 passes we'll still have that fog out there, it just won't be dense in nature. since we do have that dense fog advisory, we see reduced visibility about quarter mile or less in a lot of spots this morning, so you really need to take it easy. across the eastern shore we have about seven miles of reduced visibility there and this will continue until that sun rises for today and we'll still have some areas of patchy fog across the area. this is what we

this is your abc 2 news to go, i'm megan pringle. >> i'm charley crowson. let's begin with a check of that forecast with meteorologist lynette charles. >>> good morning, everyone. yes, we are watching sandy churning some snow across western maryland and also west virginia. here, though, at home, we're basically just dealing with the clouds outside this morning and some very cold temperatures. i'll show you those temperatures in just a second. but back off towards the west, western maryland, around hagerstown, they're dealing with a little bit of a mixed precipitation and also some rain now trying to happen in virginia. i'm going to keep a slight chance for some showers in the forecast for today, but all in all we will stay dry. we do still have a flood warning up for the areas here shaded in this green color. and we're also dealing with blizzard warnings back off towards the west. so, yes, sandy really came in, wreaked some havoc across parts of our area. i'm going to definitely say that back into western maryland. but all in all for today, not too bad. we

you are in fells point. >> reporter: it certainly does charley. you know people down here are not taking any chances. they have started to load up on this stuff right here. the sand. you can see the giant pile of sand here. they basically started loading up on it bracing for hurricane sandy and possible flooding. you know, yes, they have experienced problems with other storms in the past. so they know what a big deal flooding can be in this area. on friday, and saturday, many people loaded up on sandbags to protect their homes and businesses from flooding. city dumped a pile sandbags here at the broadway pier. city workers gave away six bags per person and they checked bags. mayor stephanie rawlings-blake says she wants people to be ready because of the magnitude of the storm. and so far they have about 3 sandbag centers that are opened in the area. you know fells point is a part of the city when it comes to flooding. so folks just want to be prepared. once again you know we have seen a number of police officers you know cruising through driving t

megan and charley over to you. >>> news time 5:31. they are watching and listening to you on your ride to and from woman. the mta says it's for your safety but some say it goes too far. sherrie johnson is here and we have covered crimes on buses before. i suppose this is in response to that. >> reporter: yes, it is. mta wants to use cameras to beef up security and keep passengers safe. there's 10 cameras on every bus. four outside and 6 inside recording your every move and word. the mta has had surveillance video but -- but audio was off limits until now. acting on a ruling from the attorney general office that it's lawful, training is underway for drivers and the first 10 buses equipped with the cameras hit the road with more than 300 others to follow in the next few months. the american civil liberties union says the mta has gone -- mta has gone too far. last month's assault on a woman by two people on a north avenue line shows the need for sound to go with surveillance pictures. >> she is alleging the case may have been a hate crim

megan and charley, over to you. >>> sandy's torrential rains and strong winds caused serious damage up and down the east coast from flash flooding, it destroyed buildings. this storm had a massive impact, especially on a whiskey plant that was here locally that collapsed. >> abc 2 news' sherree johnson just came back from cockiesville and she had a look at some of the devastation. she's going to show it to you that sandy left behind. sheree, what does this mean for drivers? i have to imagine this is going to shut down some road. >>reporter: that's exactly right. this means that drivers may need to find an alternate route this morning after the historic whiskey plant was hit by sandy. the storm tore a 60 by 50-foot hole in the plant's brick wall after a portion of the building collapsed just before 10:00 yesterday morning. now, for the first time in 60 years, we're getting to see inside of this historic whiskey plant. you can see the whiskey racks inside that plant and the plant shut down in 1958, and the owner wasn't able to sell it. now a portion of york road in cockiesville could be

. >> i am charley crowson. storm has been tracked for a number of days but lynette and wyatt and mike doing all they can to keep you ahead of the storm a live shout on the outer banks of north carolina kill devil hill has been a hot spot. number of reports out of there. you see the waves rolling in. >> because of that we have had evacuations all up and down the east coast. most people listening to them not everybody is. so we have a lot to cover this morning. let's get to the weather. >> all right. lynette. >> so we are tracking sandy and we are looking at it as a hurricane. the winds sustained at about 75 miles an hour. it's moving to the north at 12 miles per hour and picked up forward momentum and the pressure dropped one millibar so we are at 950 instead of 951. that means that it's trying to strengthen a little bit and gather more energy. being see it's 300 around 300 miles southeast of ocean city, maryland. as we check out what's going on for today and how this moves towards us, well, we will continue to

. >> i am charley crowson. let's go over to lynette charles who is monitoring the storm and letting us know the path. >> we got the advisory and it strengthened. so hurricane sandy the winds now sustained at 85 miles an hour. and this is because it is beginning to move over the gulf stream. the warmer waters moving to the north at about 13 miles an hour has picked up steam a bit and look at pressure. 946 so it has gone down. usually when the millibars go down the wind go up. and we are dealing with a hurricane that is going to really give us a one, two punch going through time here. so, let's show you what's going on in terms of what it's dropping across the area. it's not even close to beginning to bring us the real rough stuff. so super storm sandy dropping some ran across baltimore. the heaviest is the eastern shore and points southward. you shouldn't be on the roadways this morning and should be hunkered down ready to ride the thing out. it should be making landfall going through the next 24 hours or so. so

i'm megan pringle alongside charley crowson. we have breaking news. >>> fire overnight in federal hill. linda so is standing by with one of the witnesses there. what have you learned? >> reporter: it's been burning for hours now. it started -- [no audio] riverside avenue in federal hill. the fire happened a block down from here in the 1200 block of battery avenue, joining us this morning, is a relative, nancy, it was actually your brother to lived if the home. you got a call this morning, tell us. >> the police department called me, and told me, i needed to find a place for my brother and them to stay. i asked what was going on. i thought it was a prank. they said the house is on fire. they let me speak to him. he was just so freaked out and hysterical. all i could think about was the dogs. they got everybody out of the house. >> reporter: it was your brother, his wife, their adult son, and two young children. they all made it out safely. but there were two dogs and a bird and turtle that died. this home was here for 60 years. >

charley is live at camden yards. the o's fans turn out in full force again. >> reporter: you know, no amount of rain or delay that lasted 30 minutes last night or a game one loss to new york even the cold weather that still is is hanging around today, nothing was going to keep the fans from coming out in full force and having the presence known here at camden yards. and whether or not they wanted to admit it prior to game 2, fans knew last night if baltimore wanted to continue in the alds last night was a must win game. 48,000 fans filled the yard as chen took on the wentingest post season pitcher in andy pettitte and you have the most acrobatic play when he tried to score from first base. as he comes around third he is dead to right. but quick thinking in the acrobatic move around weeders and yankees up 1-0 and remained thatway until the third when baltimore got to pettitte. courtesy of chris davis with a 2-run single to right. he has been hot for the past several games and that's how it stayed. a very tight baltimo
