he will remain in custody. >> mark geragos' words was that it was kabuki theater. i know they said it was standard procedure to have the suspects appear video link but many appear in the courtroom. >> video appearance is becoming a more common thing. it can be helpful when you're holding a defendant in a secure facility and you don't want to move them. for you and i to get into a car and drive from a to b is no big deal. but anybody in the sheriff's department, any federal marshal will tell you that transporting criminals is a high-risk procedure. when you can keep him in a secure facility and have him appear and satisfy whatever constitutional burden of having him appear even if that's by video link i think any federal marshal and sheriff deputy will tell you you should avoid caution and move prisoners when it can be avoided, especially in a high-profile case like this. >> i think sunny is going to disagree with this. >> we're talking about the best of the best when we're talking about the fbi and the marshals. moving a prisoner is not that difficult. you can move

cnn legal analyst mark geragos talked about friday's court appearance. >> she is in a lot of trouble but it's i tell you, my reaction is that this is actually all show, no go. i don't understand why they brought her in in order to ask for a relatively low amount of bail. it's 100 or 200 on a bond. her lawyer basically and for those of you who don't know, one of the reasons the arraignment was delayed they were trying to find lawyer to appoint to represent her. she has been coordinating with the police and the district attorney all this time. but this is almost inexplicable at this point as to why they proceeded in this fashion. >>> richard matt and david sweat are still on the run eluding authorities now for a week. mitchell, meantime, will be spending the weekend in jail. miguel marquez was in the courtroom earlier in new york. >> joyce mitchell is now arraigned. the felony is promoting prison contraband. the misdemeanor is criminal far till station in the fourth degree. all of this for what authorities tell cnn is her hand in helping two convicted murderers escape from the clinton

here to talk about where the case may lead our legal analyst jeffrey tubin and mark geragos. jeffrey is a former prosecutor, and mark is one of the better criminal defense attorneys around. mark, the new reporting that there was a murder plot against joyce mitchell's husband, i mean, if she knew about that and it was going along with it, i assume she could face additional charges for that, couldn't she? >> yeah. absolutely. i will tell you, although this is all speculation, this makes infinitely more sense than the previous reports that were coming out last week that they were looking at him and at the same time suggesting there was some kind of a sexual relationship between her and the escapees. this at least rings a little more true. look, she's got -- she's in a world of hurt. she's got virtually nowhere to go at this point. she's talked and talked and talked, and they probably bled although information out of her before she got lawyered up. at this point she's just got to get down and pray every minute of every day that nobody gets hurt in the capture of these two. >> bec
