typically, there is usually a drought in southern california, or a drought in northern california. but to have the entire state in a drought has been really challenging. the state has over the last 60 years developed a network where we can move water from northern california all the way to southern california. however, since there is no water in northern california, it has been difficult to meet everybody's needs. the last major drought in this area started in 1987, and ultimately ended in 1992. it was pretty severe. not as severe as this one, but it was pretty drastic, and there was a lot of fear about running out of water. the voters approved constructing facility, and making connections to the state water project so we could import water. facility wasion completed in late 1991, and was only operated for a couple months and then put into a standby mode because we had received quite a bit of rainfall. the community decision was to keep it in standby mode, where it has been roughly for the last 20 years. it,e are taking a look at trying to reactivate it. a a lot of the technology h

it's the yellow and orange blob approaching northern california . you will notice it is also approaching hawaii but the angle is going to be more beneficial for us in terms of wave heights. here's a look at current wave heights with estimates around 5 feet just offshore but you'll notice those wave heights increasing up to 19 feet, up to 30 feet in the core of the season -- system. hawaii isn't picking up the swell they needed. we will have and more westerly push with this activity. as a result, mavericks will definitely notice a big bump in the swell beginning tomorrow and into friday. here is a closer look. mavericks, pillars point, and that break is about a half-mile offshore. with a look at the forecast, they could have wave faces on the order of 25-35 feet. definitely, we are expecting a big bump in the swell with high surf advisory's in the bay area and i'm sure we'll have some very impressive wave footage coming up by friday. that's always a gamble because you are setting up, preparing for the event. you never know until the morning that you
