steve krafft is live with the story tonight. steve? >> reporter: well, me show you where the complaint was filed in the striking federal courthouse in downtown phoenix. these lawsuits also filed in the theme, democrats say republicans are trying to tilt the election by intimidating voters but republicans say that the not happening. the complaint filed in federal court accuses the trump campaign and the arizona republican party in con speurrying to threaten and intimidate minorities in voting in the election. the goal, depressed voter the complaint asks a judge for anyone to harass voters in anyway. the republican party says the complaint is nonsense. >> the relief they request is extreme in terms of, what they would ask the court to do to tell people not to do things in the future that are very likely first amendment protected. >> reporter: this is state democratic party we asked a spokesperson his response to what the republicans had to say and he declined saying the lawsuit speaks for itself. helen purcell says she is confident that

in phoenix, steve krafft, fox 10 >>> arizona voters rejected prop 205. that was the ballot initiative that would have legalized personal amounts of recreational marijuana for adults 21 and older in our state. now there's word that doctor's offices have been flooded with people seeking medical marijuana cards. the phoenix new times is reporting an increase in the number of people booking appointments at certification centers and with doctors across the state over the past few days. the receptionist at sun valley certification clinic told the new times they have been a lot of places are said to have been getting phone calls. arizona voters approved back in 2010. patients have to pay $150 to the state and at least $150 to visit a doctor, as required by law. >>> president-elect donald trump says in an interview with "the wall street journal" that he is now open to preserving key parts of obama care, like allowing young adults to stay on their parents' plans and also prohibiting insurance from denying coverage because of preexisting conditions. his loyal supp

steve krafft joins us live from chandler. good afternoon, steve. >> reporter: there have been lots of opportunities for people to do it, but a lot of folks haven't. so this is the situation right now. there are folks here at chandler city hall, you can see, and this is the last day for early votingment you know, we have learned that county helen purcell telling us that 900,000 out of 2.1 million registered voters have already voted in maricopa county. that's a huge level of participation. and today 19 places are still open until 5:00, this one in chandler, as i was saying. anyone in line at 5:00 will be served. right now there's a two to two and a half hour wait, and a difficult situation for folks, but, you know, as we have found talking to people in line, they were very patient. here's some of what they had to say. >> well, i think this is a very important election. i think it's going to determine a lot, so i think individuals need to get out and vote. >> it's your patriotic duty, so exercise it. >> reporter: -- on this, if

steve krafft has the story. >> today's firings come after governor ducey launched an investigation. following reports by the "arizona republic" that des director tim jeffreys took a state plane to nogales back in april and hosted a party with alcohol for workers who gave civil service protections. that party happening during work hours. jeffreys previously lost his authority to terminate employees after firing some 500 workers including many apparently for no reason. governor ducey appointed jeffreys as director of des in february of last year. ducey's chief operating officer henry darwin is now the agency's interim director. >>> the. sent a letter to president obama asking him to intervene in the tense situation in north dakota where native americans and activists are protesting the dakota access pipeline. meantime some lawmakers are calling on the white house to make sure that project is finished. >>> in their letter, the president and vice-president of the navajo nation tell president obama he cannot sit back while there is violence perpetuated against peaceful protesters and the
