bruno mountain, south bay picking up the most rain and the santa cruz mountains not much in san jose, less than a tenth of an inch so far. but already at ben loman, the rain is climbing. it is this area of moisture that we're tracking bringing the rain rates up to half an inch or higher. between now and 8:00, notice the rain totals, things changing though after midnight, by tomorrow morning we're seeing one to two inches of rain across the valleys and in the santa cruz mountains, half an inch tomorrow, and through the bay area as we head through tomorrow look at the river levels, napa, st. helena, flood stage, other areas including the russian river by the afternoon just briefly over the flood stage, and updating the forecast in san jose now guadalupe river near higher 101 expected to go slightly over flood stage tomorrow. again, the rain picking up as we head into the afternoon. the other thing to watch, gusty winds winds, wind speeds up to 30, or 50 miles an hour, that is a real problem for trees and power outages that would be more widespread through the hills. coming up on the ti

a mobile doppler radar truck on top of san bruno mountain. you can see from the live shot there that the rain is just coming down in sheets. and we have also detected some live lightning. great thing about the storm ranger is it is mobile. we can move it anywhere across the bay area, where we see a need be, and it will give us a better radar detail. also, improves storm accuracy and fills in radar coverage, some of the other radars may miss, and once again, it is down to the minute as far as what we're seeing for the intense moving through the bay area. some of the heaviest rain is moving through parts of sonoma and to napa county, also northern marin county, and this is where we're picking up on the bright yellows and reds. storm ranger is picking up on live lightning as yell just south of san francisco. some of the heavier pockets of rain have been picking up rainfall rates of at least an inch and a half an hour, and we'll see this for several hours throughout the day, but the good news is that there be a little bit of lighter rain moving t

our storm ranger parked on a mountain in san bruno. our mobile doppler radar truck giving us a very high detail of look at what's happening on the radar. quite a bit of some lightning strikes, well to the east of us. we haven't seen much in the way of lightning, but there's still a lot of energy, as this atmospheric river continues to bring in more of that rain and possibly some heavy downpours for tomorrow. so as we look ahead, there's a high wind watch that will be in effect for tomorrow for the coastal areas and the hills. winds coming in from the south at 20 to 35 miles an hour. those gusts may even pop up to 65 miles an hour. so be prepared for the potential of some more power outages. and also, the threat of some flooding, especially for the coastline and the inner bay. king tides coming back in once again with a full moon. we have the astronomical high tides. and also, with this storm moving in, we'll see those water levels piling up, starting tomorrow, and that continues through thursday. as of right now, our winds are starting
