. >> let's get straight to glenn "hurricane" schwartz. he's tracking your hour-by-hour forecast. >> keith, it looks like everybody is going to be getting rain, at least for a period of time it will be on the heavy side. that's why we have a first alert out for tomorrow for the entire area. generally, the western parts of the area closer to 7:00 a.m. towards the shore, closer to 3:00 p.m. as it moves west to east. this thunderstorm could be severe with damaging wind and localized flooding that clogs drains from the leaves. it goes from new england down to delaware, which is kind of unusual for this time of year. this is not our general severe weather season which is kind of high for this time of year. we have unusually strong winds in the upper atmosphere. we have a lot of clouds out there right now and tremendous rain and thunderstorms back down to the southwest. that whole system is headed this way and it's with a cold front that is coming through and here it is, 5:00 in the morning, some models have it later but a line of thunderstorms

let's get right to meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz with the most accurate neighborhood weather forecast. nice, mid to low 70s in late october, not bad, right? >> yeah. the average high is 66 for this time of the year. we're way above that. not only today but tomorrow, sunday, monday. we've got a little more wind today as a weak front passes through. that will allow the shore areas to be warmer than the last couple of days. significantly warmer because of the land breeze instead of the sea breeze. 55 in philadelphia. you see we're going up through the 60s and into the 70s with nothing but sunshine this afternoon. you see the northwest wind there. and it's kind of preventing us from getting even warmer. it's not really cooling us down. 49 in lancaster. 47 in millville. the cool spot. 55 in philly and close to 60 degrees at the shore already. nothing on the satellite and radar close by or even far away. the country is extremely dry, and it's going to continue that way. temperatures getting into the 70s in much of the area. and lots of sunshine. we'll see how warm that lasts coming

gadi schwartz. let's get to the latest on tropical storm nate. bill karins is here and what is the area of concern right now? >> we're going to deal with some more power outages. we haven't had widespread power outages. but winds are strong enough for trees to fall down in central alabama. we're just about done with all of our storm surge problems. still some areas that have water but the water is not going up any higher. by the way that caused the most problems last night. we hit that storm surge around midnight to 2:00 a.m. the water went up four to six feet. currently we're at 70-mile-per-hour winds but even that is probably generous. the winds are really coming down. haven't seen any strong gusts even close to 70 miles per hour in awhile. the radar shows the center of the storm now crossing into clearly central portions of alabama, the heavier rain bands come in off the coast around panama city and go up into montgomery. and then you have pretty heavy rain in montgomery. flash flood problems. we are under tornado watch. so, sometimes with tro

we turn now to eric schwartz. he was assistant secretary of state for population, refugees, and migration, and is now president of refugees international. he recently returned from bangladesh. and daniel russel was a career foreign service officer and served as assistant secretary of state for east asian and pacific affairs. he's now a senior fellow at the asia society. and we thank you both for being with us. eric schwartz, to you first. you just did return from bangladesh a few weeks ago. what was your main takeaway? >> my main takeaway, both for policy reasons and moral reason, is we have to come to grips with the enormity of these crimes. a population larger than atlanta, larger than miami has been forced out of their homes in a matter of five weeks. the testimonies we received were heartbreaking of systematic firebombing of villages, people being shot systematically when they tried to flee, cases of sexual violence that as a father of two girls was one of the most difficult sets of testimonies for me to hear.

let's get to glenn "hurricane" schwartz with our neighborhood forecast. glenn? >> i'm more excited about this and the future of the sixers than i have for decades. i mean, even when iverson was around, it was him, you know, it was a one-guy superstar and now several. we have several days of beautiful weather. we got light wind during the day today. the temperature going up a little bit compared to what we have seen in the last few days. got clear skies to start the day. and at the jersey shore, one of the many places going to be seeing sunshine. getting up through the 60s and close to 70 degrees. temperatures are in the 40s to low 50s. 52 in philadelphia. that southwest wind will warm us up today more than we've seen in the last couple of days. 73 degrees the average high is 66. and we're near 70 or into the 70s throughout the area today. jess? >> glenn, we're watching the schuylkill expressway still this morning and

. >> nbc 10 first alert meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz is tracking the storm. >> look at that beautiful picture now, but it's going to change dramatically as we head through the next couple of days. we have a first alert for sunday and sunday night. it's going to cover the whole area, the heaviest of the rain may be north and west up towards the lehigh valley, bucks county, montgomery county. everybody's going to get heavy rain. everybody's going to get strong gusty winds, but the strongest winds, likely at the jersey shore. so we have heavy rain and thunderstorms, a potential for damaging winds. and localized flooding, the fallen leaving aren't going to help, that's for sure. we're quiet right now, but there's two systems that are going to combine, first is this front you can see clearly with the showers and thunderstorms to our west. and then this giant blob of tropical moisture that could develop into a tropical depression later on as we go into the rest of the day and tomorrow. they are going to combine. 60 for this evening in philadelphia. we're going to have a beautiful

let's go to glenn "hurricane" schwartz. >> yeah, quite a difference from what we've seen the rest of the month of october. we've got overcast skies philadelphia, wilmington, all over the place. and we have some pretty gusty winds, too. northeast wind gusting to 32 miles an hour in atlantic city, 26 miles per hour in philadelphia, making it feel even cooler. it's also helping to pile up the water right along the beaches and up delaware bay into delaware river. coastal flood advisory until 6:00. minor tidal flooding, but some may affect this roads during the afternoon rush hour here. we also have a few sprinkles around. nothing heavy at all. but especially in delaware and south jersey. now take a look at these temperatures. 63 degrees in philadelphia, 59 in pottstown. just a couple days ago, everybody was in the 80s. none of that for a couple days. temperature 16 degree drop, tomorrow will be cool, too. but then we have a nice warm-up as we head through the weekend. i'll let you know if there is rain coming with that in just a few minutes. >>> hopefully good playing weather tonight in

let's go to nbc's gadi schwartz. he's in anaheim. gadi? >> reporter: let me show you what's going on right mow. check this out. these are firefighters putting out hot spots in this home and they were protecting this home over here. in this neighborhood it's house after house that's already gone up in flames. from above, you can see it's house after house that's been destroyed by this fire. a very different fire than the one that is burning up north because she's homes are so close to each other and the wind is so strong that it's traveling from house to house, neighborhood to neighborhood at lightning speed. and this is something that you can see from all across southern california. you can see the smoke cloud from disneyland, from the ballpark, from the traffic snarled all way around here. a very stark reminder that this is the type of danger that people live with every day here in southern california. lester? >> gadi schwartz with the scene for us from anaheim there in southern california. >>> now to another major story we're following,
