texas, republican dan patrick. lieutenant governor, thanks so much for joining us. first of all, obviously our thoughts and prayers have been with the town of santa fe over the last few days. you've been there speaking with family members, talking to survivors. how is the community doing? >> the community, like texas, is very strong, but obviously hurting, jake. there was a prayer vigil the other night. i'll be joining governor abbott later this morning at a church service. and this is a community that stand on the rock of faith. you know, jake, in the last 10 months, texas has been through a lot. largest natural disaster with the hurricane, the largest church shooting and now this, and we stand together with a rock of faith and a rock of our constitution. we believe in our freedom and our libertys and our second amendment and we will stand strong and we will stay together as a community as we have done for almost the last year in many crisis situations. >> we've also been following, of course, the latest developme

i thank the gentleman from texas. today is a great day for north carolina's community financial institutions, small business innovators and, most importantly, our economy. i rise today in strong support of this rule that will bring a much-needed regulatory relief bill, s. 2155, to the house floor. the most damaging aspect of the dodd-frank bill was the additional and unnecessary regulatory burden placed on community financial institutions. and because of this, we've seen american consumers and small businesses struggle to get the credit and the support that they need. economic growth is held back because of dodd-frank. i am happy to report that relief is on the way, with the passage of s. 2155. mr. speaker, while i urge adoption of this rule and urge passage of this bill, i also look forward to working with our chairman and our leader, jeb hensarling, senator mike crapo, and senate democrats to craft a package of bills that focuses on capital formation. i offer any support i can to help bring that collection of bills

killed in this school shooting in santa fe, texas. this is a number that we're hearing from local affiliates on the ground. we have heard from our federal law enforcement sources there were multiple fatalities. but as i talked about before, this scene is still being processed. the tactical teams are still out there. while this is no longer an active shooter scene, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done on the law enforcement side. while we report eight numbers according to our local affiliates now, there is the possibility that number could grow. we have seen scenes unfortunately like this before. it was just a few months ago in the middle of february that we saw something like this in parkland, florida. where 17 people ended up being killed there. this is a very fluid situation here, kate. and we're trying to get as many details as we can. it is a mix of local officials on the ground who have been tweeting and talking with our local affiliates there, we're getting some information from federal law enforcement officials as
