now she is a protege of john kelly's. he brought her when he became chief of staff to the white house for a couple of months and persuaded president trump to nominate her to lead the dhs. john bolton said she essentially started to need to do her job, a sentiment that president trump agrees with and took john bolton aside with all of this today and set john kelly off to where people thought he genuinely could resign. today things were dramatic different. i'm told by multiple people witness to this argument and especially that john kelly was even more angered by the fact that he saw president trump as siding with john bolton over all of this. now, what's going to happen going forward is an open question. some officials are denying that anyone is going to resign over this, but we do know that john kelly didn't travel with president trump to where jim is in that rally in montana. he wasn't scheduled to, but he's not by the president's side, and also john bolton continued on with his regularly scheduled meetings and what not

this came to light after the reports of john kelly and john bolton getting into a fight last week outside of the oval office. we heard there are have been other occasions and one took place in february on the same day that the families of the victims of the shooting at the high school in parkland, florida, were showing up for an event in the east room with the president february 21st. cory lewandowski was at the white house apparently for some previously scheduled meeting. he and john kelly ended up arguing in front of the president in the oval office. again, this scene has become familiar with the oval office aides. the two ended up outside the oval office, and john kelly wanted lewandowski escorted out of the building. john kelly went and grabbed his collar and pushing him toward the wall, secret service intervened. from my understanding is, and i'm heard conflicting things, but i've heard from more people lewandowski didn't -- they ended up working this out among themselves behind closed doors soon after and then went back into the oval office. but it really does speak to the plef leve

in recent weeks, at least we're hearing about john kelly's temper. last week he got into a shouting match with john bolton over the border issue, over migrants coming up from central america to the southern border. and in the past john kelly has reportedly gotten into it with a chinese officials during a presidential trip overseas. so not the first time here for either of them. >> in light of that, call me suspicious, are these possibly intentional leaks to undermine john kelly? there are folks who trump allies who see kelly as not sufficiently supportive of the president. >> yeah. i think this drama surrounding john kelly is never really over, even though he said he would sign on for another two years. there are people inside the white house and outside that are leaking information that could be seen as damaging to him out and to the public. it is part of an on yougoing po struggle here. john kelly is on the receiving end today, as he has been in recent weeks. >> let's see if there is a presidential promise to investigate the source of these leaks.

kelly and the rumors about the president wanting to fire john kelly. and it became this extraordinary piece of reporting because the president invited her eventually into the oval office and paraded everyone in the building in front of her, from john kelly to the vice president to the secretary of state. and at a certain point she determined that one of the reasons john kelly is still there is that even when the president has seemed to try to fire him he just doesn't leave. she reports in this must read in "new york" magazine when the president says i need you to leave, kelly just ignores him, an administration official said. but the fight that was the worst was the one between john bolton and john kelly today. they got into a heated argument that involved cursing and profanity and turned into a shouting match that even startled in the west wing. it's quite a divisive west wing, arguing is pretty typical here but this was different today. this was more dramatic. one source told me today it equated to essentially a falling out between the two men. they were falling there could be a resignation that could come out of this and they didn't think it would be from john bolton, but from john kelly, who has threatened resigning multiple times in the past but they're told today they truly thought this could lead to him to step down from his role as chief of staff. that argument went on. president trump was involved in the beginning of it. but instead of taking john kelly's side, he was on john bolton's side during this disagreement, which only increased john kelly'sa agitatin over this. now there is a question of whether or not john kelly is going to step down from his job. he's not scheduled to trav
