>> dana: it sounds like it to me and it's so upsetting. it's going to take at least four weeks from when they passed the covid relief bill for the treasury to get payments out to people. you're talking about needless suffering over the holidays for people that are in this position through no fault of their own and the government has completely left them down. she's not only just admitting that she held it up for joe biden but if i was a moderate democrat that just lost my seat all of these republicans that crushed them, i would be so mad because if you remember, jesse, one of the things i kept saying is the moderate democrats are saying we need this relief bill. not just a campaign on it but the constituents needed. she couldn't deliver so she was willing to sacrifice all those house seats so that now they have a very slim majority in the house and the republicans will likely take over in 2022 all because she wanted to help joe biden when the white house. i mean, it's quite stunning and i'm surprised that so many democrats are comfortable

dana? >> president-elect biden commented on it as far as of now, current president donald trump has not. alex, thank you so much for that important reporting. joining me, senator angus king of maine who sits on both the intelligence and armed services committees. and is co-chair of the bipartisan cyberspace commission. thank you so much. senator. you said this may be the most serious attack the country has endured. what can you tell us about how deep it goes, why did we miss it so long. >> number one, this is a real time disaster unfolding as we are talking, dana. here's why it is worrying me. we know it started in march, didn't know about it until this week. that's troubling in and of itself. secondly, don't know what the intruders are up to. are they simply stealing information or are they planting malware that could effect critical functions of the government or the private sector. what if the attack was on the gas pipeline system, electrical grid, air traffic control system. this underl

dana, what are your thoughts on this? >> dana: i'm embarrassed to say i'm the one who sent this end. i'm the one who sent it to my mom and family members because i thought it was hilarious. i've been laughing for days. everyone in my family wrote back, oh, the poor lady. i hope she is okay. i'm so sad so maybe i'm heartless. but i'm glad she is fine. >> emily: totally. my mom said the same thing. this is terrible. jesse, what do you think? speed when she has to take her backpack off, that is the issue. screwing up the way of distribution and i mean, it is pretty obvious. >> emily: greg, what about your commentary? >> greg: i did actually feel bad for her. i couldn't tell if she was a little old lady or a 10-year-old. that is the problem with me. but you know what, solve the problem by drinking. drinking gets you so inebriated that it cancels out the clumsiness of the ice and you walk completely normal like a normal person. >> emily: like when you become fluent. juan what about that bystander that tried to help and then di

just think about this, dana. every taxpayer out there just added $6,200 on the debt they owe the united states government because the money we continue to borrow if this bill goes into law. that's significant money. somebody is going to pay it. but the debt just doesn't go away. the debt has to be paid back at some point. and we have to become responsible for the dollars we're spending. my constituents are hard-working taxpayers and they expect us to do what's right in washington, d.c., and spend the money correctly. >> i have to ask about another bit of drama that's going on and that is the -- the national defense authorization act. it's the defense bill. this is a bill that passed with huge bipartisan support. you voted for it. it has passed for 59 years in that way. the money in it raises wages for troops and it gives -- modernizes equipment, it sets defense policy and many, many other things. the president vetoed this bill. there will be a vote this week, i believe, tomorrow to override the president's veto.

i'm dana bash in washington. breaking news out of nashville this hour where authorities now believe yesterday's explosion was the likely result of a suicide bombing. that's according to two law enforcement sources with direct knowledge of the investigation. the blast which happened in the early hours of christmas morning shook the city, damaged dozens of buildings and injured at least three people. and now video obtained by cnn appears to show the same rv at the center of the explosion in downtown nashville previously parked outside this home in antioch, tennessee. cnn crime and justice correspondent shimon prokupecz is on the scene for us in nashville and shimon, the fact that this may have been a suicide bombing, how has that changed the investigation? >> reporter: well, for one thing it's done, there's no manhunt. there's no one to search for in connection with the bombing and at least the threat has been minimized and we've heard that from the fbi today and from the police here. this was something that they r
