we've heard from the white house covid task force. they have said as soon as the green light is issues, they say they have the vaccines ready and will be ready to roll them out. >> it sounds like they are planning to approve this mixing and matching of vaccines. help us understand. we know, for example, there's been a lot of pressure from state officials who wanted flexibility in the types of doses they can give people for the booster shot. how do they come to making a plan here? >> for the u.s. fda they have to be constrained to the science. can they suggest booster shots that mix and match the brand of the vaccine and still deliver the same safety and efficacy? the good news is it looks from the data that they will be able to assure that. that will make it a lot easier for state officials to make sure they're delivering boosters to as many people as possible. >> i want to ask you about the tragic death of former secretary of state colin powell who was fully vaccinated but died of complications from covid-19. >> well, i've got to go

for an update for things from the white house, the white house end of pennsylvania avenue, we are joined by bloomberg's justin sink, white house correspondent, good morning. guest: thanks so much for having me. host: we were just hearing about the house, potential meeting of democrats. what do we expect from the white house today in terms of the negotiations over the budget reconciliation measure? guest: the white house is sort of just kind of a bump in the road. they still think they can make progress and move forward. i would expect the same cadre of aides led by domestic policy advisor susan rice, brian, the national economic director, steve, senior advisor to the president will be on capitol hill today meeting with whether it's joe manchin or kristen sinema, whoever they need to get to the table to iron out this deal. kind of get the sense from the white house that they are at least trying to portray this. it's still possibly in line to both put together a framework package and get the vote that they want on the infrastructure bill. as we saw last night, as much optimism she might ha

i took three different jobs at once at the white house. three senior roles. press secretary, communications director for the west wing and the east wing so the argument can be made that i wasted taxpayers' money and i saved taxpayers easily $500,000. however, when i took the job with the president as his press secretary, we discussed it and he said i still don't want briefings done. he had stopped them six months before and he felt that the press were too mean, too nasty. he would do it himself and felt he could be his own best spokesperson which is something i said all the time. my job was to work behind the scenes to work with print people and to work with more long lead stories when possible. >> of the major events you witnessed, i'm going to boil it down to two. the malpractice at the handling of the pandemic and the big lie. which do you think will end up being the most dangerous in the long run, remembering that the mishandling of the pandemic actually cost american lives? >> absolutely. that's a really good question. i think that human life can't be co

this is the framework that the white house is releasing and to be clear, the white house was not assuring reporters this morning as they spoke to us that they have assurances from senator sinema, senator manchin or from any other lawmakers, frankly, but the white house does believe president biden is behind this and they want to make the case to house democrats this morning. they're laying out how they're going to pay for this. they estimate $1.99 trillion, mostly including tax increases on corporations and on the wealthiest americans. 15% minimum tax on large corporations, which we know senator sinema agreed to already. 1% tax on stock buybacks and rate increases on income above $10 million and on income above $25 million. that will still need to be scored by the joint tax committee in order to actually see exactly how much revenue can be taken out of that, but let's be clear, president baiden is taking a risk to go over to the house today to make the case for this, even though there is not yet support from the two moderate senators and certainly not yet from the progressive members of t
