stories were told about lyndon johnson rather than being told by lyndon johnson. here is one that does capture the essence of lyndon johnson. it is told of the 1960 democratic campaign for the nomination for president. when johnson has found his hat in the ring, the other two principal candidates are stewart signing ten, a senator from missouri, and john kennedy. a junior senator from massachusetts. the three man are sitting in the grain room ahead of this debate. they are about to have a debate. they are sitting in the green room, why the grams are called the grain rooms i do not know. none of them agreeing. nonetheless, they are sitting there and making small. talk and kennedy says, stuart, lyndon, i have to tell you something. something very strange that happened to me. i had a dream last night, and in my dream, god reached down from heaven and tapped me on the shoulder, and said jack, you are my boy. this is your year. you are going to win the democratic nomination. you are going to be the next president of the united states. what do you think of that? so, stu

" the assassination affected america -- and the world -- unlike any other single event in modern history. ". well, i have to steele myself against aggressions with some of this. but as one who is old enough to remember it, i can recall what a sense of unreality there was about it. it is hard to describe. since then, so many things have happened, it is like nothing you can't believe. among other things. but this one, you could not believe. i could not believe it. the president of the united states was killed? it just didn't seem possible. certainly, no single event in modern times has been the subject of such intense controversy as that assassination. few events have produced so much confusion, probably to the point, that answers to many questions regarding that event will never be answered. basic facts, most people agree on, well not everybody agrees on. but it is generally believed that at least one shot that killed him was fired from the sixth floo

what lyndon johnson brought to the table? was what ronnie duggar who was a famous texan journalist said that every election that johnson and the rest of the people that ran for elections in texas during the timeframe up to 1960 was competitive corruption. it was just depending on who could steal more votes. and johnson ran in 1941. and lost because he didn't steal the votes. but in 1948. he won by 87 votes and received the wonderful nickname landslide linden. now imagine for a second imagine and no election. that johnson ran it did he win without corruption? and yet every author every major biography of lyndon johnson. talks about the fraud in 1941. and in 1948 multiple chapters one book major biography on the election of 1960 says oh, by the way. there was nothing about fraud in 1960, so i'm not going to talk about it since there was no fraud why talk about it. and in another book it didn't even make a half a sense and made footnote on the next little last page and the volume. and it basically said there was no fraud in illi
