and san francisco leadership and government as a beacon for the entire country. because we are so up front about what we believe in, we're really up front about inclusivity and i know that, others look at us, many look to us. we've had other departments, contact us in terms of how do you, how do you do this? how do you create a diverse equitable and inclusive workforce? and so, but i would be lying if i said that we don't have any problems in california or in san francisco or in the department. we are out liars, sure? are we doing our best again to address those things with implicit bias training? with changing the culture, our department has made huge huge leaps as has the city and i really feel like san francisco is part of the solution to moving forward in a better way. people are individuals, there are a lot of different types of people in this world and celebrating our differences is what pride is all about. >> so the march started in 2004, there was a lot of action going on at the time against transgender people. so an email thread went around and everybody

i am the resident of san francisco. i have lived in san francisco for several years, and in the past i told my friend that i really think that san francisco's public safety is really good. because a lot of people they can wear the luxury or very fine jewelry, and they can feel safe to walk out. however, in the recent years, when we opened the tv or listen to the radio or read some newspaper, we look that there is increase of crime especially about burglaies and there are some burglaries instance happened in union square and there is a lot of car break-ins happening in san francisco everywhere. and also noticed that some battery or attack instance happened in financial district, and we also noticed there was some drug dealing crimes happening in tenderloin or fillmore areas. all of these crimes activities will increase our awareness that we should install the surveillance cameras in san francisco. there is a reason why i urge you to support the surveillance camera policy. thank you. >> next caller, please. >> i would lik

arguably the most important bike order in san francisco. that got stopped with lockdown and then as you'll recall, during covid, we invented all kinds of other new programs like shared spaces in order to support our small businesses as well as sunday street light events for neighborhood commercial streets where streets were closed off to cars and turned over to commercial activity. those successes now that they've been made permanent actually interrupt the draft design we had put together. so we've gone back to the drawing board and we are looking forward to having some additional community conversations about other design ideas for valencia. we're committed to completing a quick build project on this calendar year. >> that's such good news. valencia is a really great street for biking. so there are two huge and exciting projects that are about to be or have just been completed. let's talk about the bus rapid transit project on van ness avenue. how extensive have the improvements been? >> what's called the van ness transit rapid project is

not only for san francisco but for the region. and of course, it is the location in mclaren park which is the city's second biggest park after golden gate. many people don't know the neighborhood in the first place if they haven't been there. we call it the best neighborhood nobody has ever heard our. every neighborhood in district nine has a very special aspect. where we are right now is the mission district. the mission district is a very special part of our city. you smell the tacos at the [speaking spanish] and they have the best latin pastries. they have these shortbread cookies with caramel in the middle. and then you walk further down and you have sunrise cafÉ. it is a place that you come for the incredible food, but also to learn about what is happening in the neighborhood and how you can help and support your community. >> twenty-fourth street is the birthplace of the movement. we have over 620 murals. it is the largest outdoor public gallery in the country and possibly the world. >> you can find so much political engage

you are watching san francisco rising. thanks for watching. >> candlestick park known also as the stick was an outdoor stadium for sports and entertainment. built between 1958 to 1960, it was located in the bayview hunters point where it was home to the san francisco giants and 49ers. the last event held was a concert in late 2014. it was demolished in 2015. mlb team the san francisco giants played at candlestick from 1960-1999. fans came to see players such a willie mays and barry bonds, over 38 seasons in the open ballpark. an upper deck expansion was added in the 1970s. there are two world series played at the stick in 1962 and in 198 9. during the 1989 world series against the oakland as they were shook by an earthquake. candlestick's enclosure had minor damages from the quake but its design saved thousands of lives. nfl team the san francisco 49ers played at candlestick from feign 71-2013. it was home to five-time super bowl champion teams and hall of fame players by joe montana, jerry rice and steve jones. in 1982, t

you are watching san francisco rising. thanks for watching. >> it was an outdoor stadium for track and field, motorcycle and auto and rugby and cricket located in golden gate park, home to professional football, lacross and soccer. adjacent to the indoor arena. built in the 1920s. the san francisco park commission accepted a $100,000 gift from the estate to build a memorial in honor of pioneers in the area. the city and county of san francisco contributed an additional $200,000 and the stadium was built in a year. in the 1930s it was home to several colleges such as usf, santa clara and st. mary's for competition and sporting. in 1946 it became home to the san francisco 49ers where they played nearly 25 years. the stayed de yam sat 60,000 fans. many caught game the rooftops and houses. the niners played the last game against the dallas cowboys january 3, 1971 before moving to candlestick park. the stadium hosted other events before demolition in 1989. it suffered damages from the earthquake. it was reconstructed to seat 10

we moved to san francisco early on. in the mission district and moved out to daily city and bounced back to san francisco. we lived across the street from the ups building. for me, when my earliest memories were the big brown trucks driving up and down the street keeping us awake at night. when i was seven-years-old and i'm in charge of making sure we get on the bus on time to get to school. i have to make sure that we do our homework. it's a lot of responsibility for a kid. the weekends were always for family. we used to get together and whether we used to go watch a movie at the new mission theater and then afterwards going to kentucky fried chicken. that was big for us. we get kentucky fried chicken on sunday. whoa! go crazy! so for me, home is having something where you are all together. whether it's just together for dinner or whether it's together for breakfast or sharing a special moment at the holidays. whether it's thanksgiving or christmas or birthdays. that is home. being so close to berkley and oakland and s

alert san francisco, san francisco emergency text message system sent a text message announcement to nearby residents notifying them of the incident. at multiple times during the incident various officers can be heard saying mr. corvera was pointing his gun in their direction while the contact officer continued to speak with mr. corvera. officer number 3 updated a supervisor mr. corvera was on his 80s peaking over the hood of the red car with the gun in his right hand. officer number 3 developed a plan with other officers to bring a patrol vehicle on to the west sidewalk of shotwell street to provide additional cover. officer number 3 continuously updated nearby officers of their plan and of mr. corvera's movements. officer number 3 repositioned to the patrol vehicle driven on to the sidewalk, moved the patrol vehicle forward a short distance and took position behind the driver side of the patrol vehicle. a supervisor directed the contact officer to hollster his department issued handgun and continue speaking with mr. corvera. from the driver seat of the patrol vehicle officer number

we have a finite number of beds in san francisco so the san francisco behavioral center has a mental health rehab center within it and i'm blanking out on the number of beds and i'm going to ask jane who is calling in, if she can refresh my memory. crestwood, we worked this a partnership with ucf and opened up the healing center in st. mary's campus and that added 54 beds to our portfolio in the city. what has made challenging for keeping beds in san francisco is just finding buildings that are appropriate in terms of their construction and in their layout that would support keeping mental health rehab lock secured beds in the city and st. mary's was a good example to make that happen. because we aren't able to add portfolio here in the city, we've partnered with crestwood as one of our primary partners and their newer facilities are coming in further out areas from the bay area simply because the bay area is expensive to do new construction and it is more affordable and because other parts of the state are starting to realize the need for this level care so they're starting to partn
