i'm curious about the herschel walker campaign strategy at this point. what is the path to victory to look like? it was quite motivating when it looked like it might be about control of the senate, because there are a lot of people who would hold their noses at the sort of character that herschel walker is in order to win control of the senate for the republicans, but that is not hanging in the balance now so what is the best argument for republicans who are having trouble with the herschel walker? >> well, thank you for having me ali and you are right. the strategy now has been a little bit muddled and more difficult to get across to conservatives. but, it has not changed. essentially, it is that having a 50/50 senate is a lot more easy for republicans to be a strong arm against joe biden's legislative agenda then and having a 51 to 49. but, at the same time, this is very much a turnout game. so what you are hearing from republicans,, particularly to their base is a message to the northern georgia, more conservative base voters. the herschel walker camp

herschel walker has a long history of imagining himself in certain jobs. and now, i think he wants the rest of us to imagine that he has what it takes to be a united states senator. >> well, imagine that, panel, what do you think of the idea of the polls in georgia are still deadlocked it seems? >> this is beyond the imagination, when a few weeks ago, when he said that he was concerned they were going to lose, not gain the senate because of lackluster candidates, wink wink, talking about herschel walker. but the challenge we're seeing is that the facts in the lies don't really seem to matter for a large number of voters. one of the things that reverend warnock, the senator warnock did not mention was abortion. the fact that herschel walker's been accused of handing out abortions like candy and he's a hypocrite in that regard, because he's supporting policies that he himself would not actually want to see implemented. >> why does that matter to voters it seems? >> look, we used to say that once upon a time, not so long ago, candidates used to matter. i woul

walker, because they see a vote for herschel walker as a vote against democratic control of the senate and biden. it's a lot harder to make their case if controls are already cemented one way or another going into this december 6th runoff. >> are you seeing a buildup already on either side for the herschel walker campaign or the warren campaign to prepare on the ground to run yet another election and somehow get georgia voters who had to do a lot of heavy lifting for our democracy over the last couple years to get them to vote again? >> exactly, this is normally a day of rest. normally, it's a nine-week runoff. it's very long, stretches over two months, but new voting law, narrows that just four weeks, so now these campaigns and candidates, they spent their raising monies and ramping up machinery all over again to push the runoff, there will already be a ride tomorrow for herschel walker -- >> will kemp attend? is there any reason for him to attend? >> governor kemp as head an arm's length approach to herschel walker all along. he said he will help him out, but they literally had dueli

huge outperformance of herschel walker. herschel walker needs those kemp voters who didn't vote for him the last time around and even the ones who did vote for him the last time around to come back out to the polls without control of the senate on the line. it does feel like it's drained a lot of the intensity away from this race. so they've got to get republican voters especially those brian kemp voters to come back out to the polls and vote for herschel walker. kemp is the very best spokesman that the herschel walker campaign can ask for. and we're seeing a lot more of brian kemp in tv ads and mailers than we even are of herschel walker so we can see like who they feel like is the best spokesman for the campaign right now and that really is brian kemp. >> so i'm about to play something we're all going to sit back and perhaps end up scratching your head. but this is a new ad out. it is from senator warnock and it shows voters reacting in realtime to some of walker campaign speech moments. take a look. here's a small snippe

waited until the runoff to throw his name behind herschel walker. what does it mean for the campaign? >> i think it means a lot. brian kemp and herschel walker ran separate campaigns through the general election, as you noted. at the time, brian kemp was focused on himself getting himself elected. he wasn't worried about herschel walker. he had his own race to run. but it's clear he's being held as the head of georgia to oput his political machine behind herschel walker. that's what we're seeing happen. he's led the grassroots campaign, and shared the stage with herschel walker for the first time. and now this ad that is again going to reminder voters, what the party is trying to do is get those republican voters, those moderate voters who split their ticket. many of them voted for brian kemp and also warnock. they're trying to convince some of those voters, this time, vote for herschel walker. if you like brian kemp, his candidate is herschel walker. >> tia mitchell, we'll leave the conversation there. i hope you come back before december 6th to yo

and herschel walker has told us time and again he is not that guy. he is not been able to be honest with the people of our state on any issue, whether it's the number of kids he has or the size of the businesses he's started, and as you mentioned, it's not just that he will have limited saturday voting and early voting because of a speed 202, that voter suppression law that five georgia republicans, they're actually trying to call off saturday voting in the state because of a confederate holiday celebrating the birthday of robert e. lee. even though the deputy secretary of state gabe sterling said after that decision was unnaturally made, the secretary of state's office of course thought there would be saturday voting in the early vote period. it simply wasn't out of their hands. as soon as the judge that approved to saturday early voting, the secretary of state turned around and sued to have that saturday votes canceled. so we know this is not a republican party on the side of democracy and voting rights. this is an anti-democracy republican party.

so no, we're not getting much from herschel walker's campaign right now. if you're not kind of those conservative media outlets that allows him to stick to his talking points, he doesn't seem to respond. >> and we know that he's not said anything about kanye west and this white nationalist nick fuentes dining with donald trump. he hasn't said anything about that so far. i wonder if you have been able to ask the campaign why is it that he can't do interviews by himself? why does he always have what seem to be minders? white southern senators who seem to go with him everywhere rather than letting him talk by himselves. has the campaign ever commented on that? >> the campaign hasn't. i think what we have heard is that this is herschel walker showing his support. that's how they justify it. he's not being handled. he's being flanked by his supporters. you know, and so that's kind of how they put it out there, is that, you know, these are senators that are joining him for these media interviews, but as you have noted, a lot of people interpret it as again, hers

herschel walker because he is a legendary football player in the state. senator warnock, someone well-known, given his position at ebenezer baptist church and also well liked. i think back to one of the very first campaign ads we saw here from national republicans that essentially started by saying, hey, we know that you think senator warnock is a good guy, but he votes with president joe biden x amount of time. we started where both of these candidates had high name recognition, both relatively well liked as people. then we saw this race just get more and more intense, more and more messy. you had a lot of allegations and questions about republican herschel walker's personal life in this race. he was accused by two women of paying for and encouraging them to have an abortion. he is a staunch anti-abortion candidate. he denied those allegations. but from some republican leaning voters who i spoke to, that gave them a bit of pause here and you do have the fact that warnock spent a ton of money, outspent herschel walker by $78 million but they are still goi
