i spoke with the chairman and ceo of bank of america yesterday, brian moynihan. he said. watch. your thoughts on what needs to -- what do you want to see in terms of policy in this big beautiful bill that will be important to accelerate growth for your sector and the broad economy? >> i think the number one thing is to extend the tax rates because what people are losing in context are these tax rates were meant to get the u.s. competitive on taxes from corporations, so they weren't -- people were exporting business outside the united states forelower tax rate reasons. maria: is this a front, center issue, getting those tax rates extended, ensuring they get the bill over the finish line. >> if it didn't get extended it would be a real shock to the system and that's what everybody's working to avoid. on the debt, the interesting thing is the debt is more of a front and center topic in america today. i'd say the taxis really -- everybody is assuming it will get through. maria: if this doesn't happen, we could see the markets go down. jay powell was on capitol hill y

in fact, brian moynihan two quarters ago said, as soon as we get some of these regulations to ease, he buying back something like $20 billion in stock. so i expect this week we're going to hear from a number of companies. and they'll be they'll be buying back stock and they'll be increasing their dividends. the stocks are like 11, 12, 13 times earnings 1 to 1 and a half times book value. and the yields as i mentioned are likely to go higher. and so i think that's where you want to be. your bigger thesis on the financials is that people are underestimating just how important and how big this deregulatory deregulatory move is going to be. >> yeah. so it's they're going to relax the slr. that's that's important. the basel three endgame is very important. and i think that the new news that i think is interesting is that the sec is working with the exchanges to lower costs on companies that are wanting to come to market to, to in terms of the ipo market, we are down from 8000 publicly traded companies to 4000 today. and that has to change. right. so i think you're going to start to see a lo
