and we're just getting here to fairfield. and behind me is the command post for the vista grande fire. and as you mentioned, they were able to stop forward progress on this fire at 62 acres. and they're also confirming that those evacuation orders have been lifted. now, as far as the details on this fire, they're saying that they got the call around 3:30 p.m. about a fire not too far from where we're standing, near vista grande and capitola whard. now, they did say those evacuations were put in place because that fire was threatening structures, homes in that area. now, additional resources were called in, as you can see from some of the video that we're showing, they got those resources from outside of the area. and that included cal fire, where fairfield fire says they were instrumental in providing those airdrops to help contain the fire and, of course, stop forward progress at 62 acres not too long ago. so they're able to do that. and most importantly, raj no structures were impacted. but of course, with these windy condi

it was quite the scare for people in fairfield today. as you take a look at these aerial pictures, you can see the flames inching toward their homes. the fire broke out just before five this evening. we received an update just about an hour ago. some good news. firefighters have stopped forward progress, and that evacuation order for this area has now been lifted. let's get straight to this developing story and our zac sos, who is live for us tonight in fairfield and zach, i imagine many people, they're relieved tonight. >> very relieved to give you a sense of just how close this firefight came to area. area homes over my shoulder. you can probably make out the fire retardant blanketed area roofs, cars, the flames. fortunately not making it to these structures. but they did come close, as you mentioned, forward progress on this fire stopped just after six at some 62 acres. take a look at this video. earlier winds dry brush helping to feed these flames in fairfield, prompting an evacuation order for several neighborhoods off of hills road

that is pete suratos reporting for us in fairfield.'s now turn things over to jeff ranieri, who's also been keeping a close eye. and things have kind of changed throughout the evening. right, jeff? yes. we're watching that wind kind of go down back up a little bit. so as we get you into those current wind gusts and what we're tracking, you can see the fire here was to the north and the west here of downtown fairfield. and we're still getting some winds here sustained at 17mph, gusts up to 30mph possible overnight. but temperatures are dropping, humidity increasing. that's going to help with any hotspots. and tomorrow we're looking at 78 and some higher humidity at 41%. winds still may get up to about 25mph. and again the big threat is this fire happened right here in this community where it's surrounded by homes. so great news. they were able to stop the forward progress on that. now when it comes to our wind overall tomorrow morning, it's relatively calm for the greater bay area, but we could still see it get up to about 22 in fairfie

fairfield 77 degrees this afternoon. that's significantly cooler than yesterday when you're in the upper 80s. and again, the reason is because of those stronger winds. while concord antioch, you're not dealing with nearly as strong of winds. and you'll be in the low 80s today closer to our coastal communities, though as usual, you will be dealing with the onshore flow, keeping those temperatures down into the mid to lower 60s kind of depends on where you're located. but everybody by tomorrow afternoon is actually going to be seeing warmer temperatures than today. we'll be back in the mid to upper 80s across our inland east bay communities. it really depends on what kind of weather you like, but we have a little bit of everything for everybody. as long as you don't mind those typical june conditions, that's exactly what we're going to be seeing over the next at least seven days. there's not too many changes in the forecast on the way, so if you have any outdoor plans, there's not too much to worry about besides grabbing y

we are tracking out towards the fairfield, the vista grande grande fire. 74 degrees. a west wind to 22mph. relative humidity 53%. so relative humidity. not too bad. not critically dry, obviously, and the temperature? not bad either. really. it is the wind that is the bigger concern of the three at this point, as we know it just helps to fan. the flames could start new fires and it helps to push that fire along. getting into the evening hours. the winds are expected to remain breezy, will let up a little bit and relative humidity will continue to climb as the temperatures continue to cool off. outside of that, again, the air quality could be an issue for some areas. we are good to moderate across the region with a nice sea breeze at the surface, so even if you're seeing that haze high up at the surface, we tend to have some pretty good air out there for today as well as tomorrow. and this onshore breeze set up is expected to last into the next several days, temperature wise at low 60s right now in san francisco to low 70s in walnut creek. temperatures bounce back just

bodega bay 50, fairfield 43, oakland airport 35, and livermore 26mph. in terms of fire danger, the most of the bay area is not under a red flag. fire warning. we're talking about strong winds. we don't even have a wind advisory, but it's still a bit blustery out there. you can see winds at least over the next couple of days. friday and into saturday could be approaching 35 miles an hour and relative humidity around 15 to 25%. now we're going to see a wind shift and that will be on saturday. instead of that, that onshore breeze which we have right now, we're going to see more of a northerly wind develop. this is saturday. and as a result, this is actually fire, fire weather watch that has the potential to turn into a red flag fire warning that's in place from saturday morning through sunday morning. and winds could be gusting to 40 miles an hour. you'll notice this does include solano county, so places like vallejo, fairfield, out toward vacaville, those we had under that that fire weather watch. so this particular forecast model shows a combination of e
