meteorologist kari hall tracking what we can expect out there today. kari, how are we looking? it's all clear. it's starting out nice and also very cool. we've had some breezy winds kicking up around walnut creek, starting out with the wind at about 15mph. temperatures at 53. it is a cool morning and we're at 52 in san jose, but we are expecting things to start to warm up fairly quickly through the late morning into the afternoon. but after our cool start, we are seeing a mostly clear sky in the tri-valley and we're headed for sunshine once again. today we'll see a high of 71, all of these temperatures well below normal in some spots. as we take a look at the inner bay, the peninsula san francisco headed for 64 degrees, but we will be in the low 70s for novato and low 80s for santa rosa. a few spots in those interior valleys will be comfortably warm for the afternoon. we will be warming up, so we'll talk more about that in a few minutes. getting out on the roads this morning as we take a live look at the golden gate bridge. very few cars coming in from the north bay, and we're

meteorologist kari hall is tracking what we can expect. good morning kari. and we are starting out with a look at our clear view in dublin as you get ready to head out. it's another cool morning start. and we're at 54 degrees with a very light wind. and as wee go throughout the morning, we are going to see temperatures in the upper 50s. a few more clouds rolling in, but then clearing out late morning. a sunny afternoon and it's going to be nice. you'll notice temperatures today will be a little bit lower compared to yesterday. in the middle of the day in dublin, we'll see a high of 73 degrees. it will be in the low 80s for concord, but still hitting 90 degrees in clear lake and ukiah. but most of the rest of the bay area will be cooling down a few more degrees compared to yesterday. now, tomorrow we start to see those numbers going back up. so instead of 75, in san jose it will be 79. still very comfortable and actually still cooler than what's normal for this time of year. so we'll see those mid 80s in the south county getting out on the roads this morning.

thank you kari. well, this morning the richmond san rafael bridge is up and running again after it was shut down for emergency repairs. take a look here at the commute. things moving smoothly. that's where today in the bay's ginger conejero saab is right now. and ginger. any concerns remaining after those repairs? well, chris, caltrans says that crews were able to fix the issue yesterday. it did take most of the day it went into the evening commute, impacting a lot of commuters. but that issue is now resolved. now let me show you what that issue was that caud all of this. there was cmbled concrete on the upper deck of the richmond san rafael bridge. it was discovered during yesterdas commute. caltrans quick to close almost all lanes for the emergency repairs, which included cutting a rectangle around the damaged area and replacing it with the rebar and concrete. the closures lasted most of the day and into the evening hours this morning. caltrans says it is safe to use the bridge. the bridge is struc

all right, kari, thank you.ell, as you heard, kari, just talking about, you know, some parts of the bay area really start to get affected in june because that is the start of fire season. and some people really do fear that it may be an active year. early indications seem to point that way, with firefighters across the bay area getting an early start today in the bay. ginger conejero saab live in the north bay this morning. ginger i know santa rosa. the city is officially starting their wildfire season today. so how are conditions there shaping up? well goo morning chris and marcus. santa rosa is fall is following a pretty dry spring, which also followed a pretty wet winter, which certainly ge them a head start. but despite that wet weather, the santa rosa saw over the winter and upwards of 40in of rain in some parts of the county. santa rosa fire decided last week that it is time for fire season to officially begin today, citing the wet winter weather coupled with a dry spring. we're hopeful that property owner

thanks, kari. well, the suspect in the deadly shooting of a minnesota state lawmaker and her husband due in court in just a few hours. authorities overnight have released a booking photo of the suspected gunman, vance beltre. this is after he was found crawling in a field and later taken into custody. now here's the moment authorities detained him. this was last night. as we mentioned, he's accused of cold blooded killing saturday of democratic state representative melissa hortman and her husband, mark, and shooting and injuring a second lawmaker in his wife. last night, minnesota governor tim walz promised to deliver punishment to the fullest extent of the law. many lawmakers are calling for more security in the wake of those shootings. well, president trump turning turning his immigration enforcement toward cities led by democrats. and this morning, it's being met with pushback today in the bay's kris sanchez. joining us now from the newsroom with reception to this all. chris good morning to you,

meteorologist kari hall is tracking that. hey, kari. good morning. seen that we have had some hazy days, some drifts of smoke and air quality issues from mostly the canadian wildfires and csing some of that smoke to drift down into the north bay. as we take a look at what to expect for the north bay, the bay and the coast, it's going to be moderate for this afternoon, so if you are smelling any smoke, you do want to limit your time outside and also turn the car vents and the air conditioning inside your vehicle on recirculate. we are seeing a good elsewhere, but as we go throughout the day, once again it may look hazy. some of that elevated smoke as our temperatures head for the low to mid 80s in the tri-valley, the inland east bay, as well as some of our north bay valleys, while san francisco will start out with some clouds and fog, and we'll see temperatures in the upper 60s. mike, you are still concerned about that south bay? yeah, yeah, folks, follow along with me. i'll explain why we see the build here in san jose for the first burst of traffic.

kari. well, this morning the 13 year old accused of stabbing another teenager to death on valentine's day. this happened at san jose. santana row was before a judge this morning. nbc bay area's kris sanchez joins us with the family's continued call for justice for not only their family, but other families and victims as well. good morning to you, marcus and laura. so i actually got to be inside that hearing as the judge took some action on evidence and set the next hearing date for august 18th. there was no plea hearing today. and as you know, we're not allowed to record inside these juvenile hearings, nor to expose the identity of those juveniles. but we were also outside as the victim's family rallied outside, and they were calling for justice for david, calling for the 13 year old, who is accused of killing him to face adult consequences in this deadly stabbing. david gutierrez, of redwood city, was just 15 years old when he was stabbed in the heart while oa valentine's day date with his

here's meteorologist kari hall. we always see that the low clouds in the fog there over twin peaks, and we are going to most likely see that again, especially s starting t in the mornings. we are getting a look at a clear view, though, as you're driving across the golden gate bridge into the city and each morning we start out with mid 50s and headed for the mid 60s for the weekend as we enjoy a lot of events going on in the city and across the bay in oakland, we'll kick off our weekend with first fridays. it will be right at about 67 degrees as you're going out for dinner and then cooling down to the low 60s later on tonight with more clouds coming in. and we also have some live music with redwood city's music on the square. this starts at 6:00, and we see this every friday through the rest of the summer, kicking off those events with live music and temperatures. really perfect low 70s as you're getting your spot there to enjoy the music throughout the evening and temperatures dropping into the low 60s. we also have

meteorologist kari hall has what's in store for this monday. kari, how's it looking? we are still going to see a wide range in our microclimate. starting out nice and cool. i want to show you one of our hotter spots, brentwood, today. that, at least for the next few hours, has some comfortable air and temperatures in the upper 50s at 6:00, at 8:00 is at 65. and then already in the low 80s at lunchtime today. it continues to warm for their from there, briefly hitting 90 degrees during 4:00 in the afternoon. and we're looking at some mid to upper 70s for spots like san jose and fremont and 68 in san francisco. we'll keep an eye on our microclimates. mike's been watching where we can find lower gas prices. yeah, well, i'm happy to say we start the week like we ended last week. the best price in the bay is in san jose, 409 at shell on stevens creek boulevard. that's listed at the top here. now in alameda county. we have them holding at 419, a different one that we talked about last week. this low will be at union city's national on alvarado boulevard. again 419 in the mid

thanks, kari. the u.s.ourt will likely anunce a ruling involving birthright citizenship this morning. we're following it closely. scott mcgrew. as you said before, this is really more about the power of federal judges as well than who is or isn't american. yeah, that's exactly right. this is not a case that will decide whether or not someone is born here automatically, is a citizen that's already spelled out in the constitution. it's not what the administration lawyers are challenging, at least not yet. not in this case. what they are doing is asking the high court judges to make a ruling on the power of injunctions, the trump white house and other presidents before him have been frustrated to see a policy or a practice blocked nationwide by a single federal judge. political scientist doctor larry gerston joins us. larry, good morning. you know, there are really good arguments right on both sides. the white house can feel hamstrung if some judge in massachusetts decides he knows what's best for the country.

thank you very much, kari.g breaking news this morning, the crash of a boeing 787 dreamliner in western india. hundreds are feared dead. at this point, we know all 242 people on board the plane died. but there are fears of major casualties on the ground as well, because the plane went down near a medical college campus. nbc is verified video showing a huge fireball upon impact. the plane had just taken off for london. there were no americans on board. nbc news aviation analyst john cox is among the experts pointing out from the video. the flaps of the plane are not extended, which is necessary for sufficient lift. air india right now is only confirming its plane was involved. kari. well, that breaking news overnight. some tough new words from president trump after what appears to be a collapse in the hours old ceasefire deal between israel and iran. in fact, here's the president saking out about three hours ago on the white house lawn. his comments here are directed towards israel before departing to the netherlands for a nato summit. i'm not happy with israel. you know, when i say, okay, now you have 12 hours, you don't go out in the first hour and just drop everything you have on them. so i'm not happy with them. i'm not happy with iran either, but i'm really unhappy if israel is going out this morning because of one rocket that didn't land that was shot, perhaps by mistake, that didn't land. i'm not happy about that. you know what we have? we basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don't know what the they're doing. those comments come after israel fired new missiles at iran overnight in response to a deadly iranian

meteorologist kari hall has been tracking that. so what are we looking at today, kari. yeah, we've been talking a lot about how hot and dry it's been. and now the vegetation has dried out quite a bit. so as we take a look at our regional fire risk as we take a look at the grasses, that's the main risk right now as it is very dry and crispy at this point for the brush it's high. and what that means is basically a lot of our brush, our grasses have reached the very dry level and they don't have a lot of moisture in them. so if you do have any sparks that could spread a fire very quickly. so in preventing wildfires, this is the time to create some defensible space around your home. and also don't drive on any dry grass if possible. secure any tow chains that could give some sparks and use grills on paved surfaces, and also have an emergency plan. we talk about red flag warnings issued about 12 to 24 hours in advance, relative humidity at 15% or less with some frequent wind gusts and both occurring at the same time. thankfully, we are not seeing those conditions today. it i

meteorologist kari hall. good morning. and we are starting out with our usual stratus clouds that we see to start out the day that marine layer coming in and temperatures in the mid to upper 50s. and we do have a breezy wind coming through walnut creek. we are seeing a few clouds overhead, but as we go throughout the day, it's going to be just a little bit warmer compared to yesterday going into the low 70s for oakland and upper 70s for novato and santa rosa, it will be 83 degrees and 86 for morgan hill. and then for tomorrow, we continue to see some of those valley temperatures going up a degree or two, but not a significant change. and cinthia, you have a look at what's happening on the golden gate bridge. yeah. as you mentioned, there is a little bit of some patchy fog there through the golden gate bridge. but we are talking about the clearing. we just cleaned up some of that roadwork, the northbound direction, but we could still see maybe 1 or 2 flashing lights. otherwise a smooth ride into marin county, but the opposi

kari. just into our newsroom, we' learning more about the man accused of killing a minnesota lawmaker and her husband. he now faces federal and state murder charges. we're also getting new details about the timeline leading up to the violence. federal prosecutors say vance belcher visited the homes of four minnesota lawmakers with the intention of killing them. they say they don't know whether they will seek the death penalty in this case. belcher was detained by police last night after a manhunt. police called the largest in state history. they say that includes the killing of democratic state representative melissa hortman and her, mark, and shooting and injuring state senator john hoffman and his wife, yvette. federal prosecutors say. belcher also listed a total of 45 state and federal officials, listed as part of a notebook belonging to him. they say he, quote, stalked his victims like prey. political assassinations are rare. they strike at the very core of our democracy. but the detail

meteorologist kari hall has been tracking that. and, kari, you say the hottest day of the week. yes. and we've been talking about it for quite a while, saying that our temperatures will be ramping up for the inland valleys. and as we take a live look oside in san jose, we are seeing a beautiful, clear sky. and we've had issues with some brush fires burning in some of the hills. so as we go through the day, we'll have to closely monitor for that and also be very careful because the grass and the brush is very dry. but yes, it is going to be a much warmer day. and temperatures in the valleys headed for the 80s and low 90s tomorrow. we'll have a significant drop in those temperatures. it will be much cooler. and also it's going to be windy. and as we pick up with the high winds, that will also elevate the fire danger going into tomorrow. so looking at another ingredient when we talk about the fire danger is the relative humidity. as we take a look at this forecast, it does show that the relative humidity in the north bay by this afternoon drops to 15%. that's very dry air. and we'r

of course, tracking those conditions as we kick off june kari. yeah, so we are still seeing the very dry conditions. it was so hot over the weekend and that just dried out the grasses and the brush even more. but as we take a look at our regional fire risk, one of the things that really has a high fire potential right now is the grasses across the bay area, because it's very crunchy, as you've probably seen, and the brush is high. that means that we've lost a lot of the moisture in the grass, the brush, as well as the trees. even the large trees have an elevated fire risk if they encounter a spark. it could cause a fire to spread very quickly. so now is the time to get that defensible space. do not drive on dry grass security toe chains, as well as using grills on paved surfaces. and make sure you have that emergency plan for red flag warning. we have to have relative humidity at 15% or less than high wind gusts. the good thing is that we're not seeing those conditions right now. we are still feeling temperatures in the 60s, but we'll be tracking
