maria: yeah. putting up for their draft of the one big beautiful bill they still have this ten year moratorium. it's conditioned a little differently. but members of the house that had already voted on the big beautiful bill, such as marjorie taylor greene, they want the senate to take out that moratorium. their argument is that it's trying to appeal to corporate interests. what is the counter argument for those who are claiming that the ban should be taken out of the bill? >> the counter argument is pretty simple. china has a three-part plan to seize global tech leadership. first they're investing $1.4 trillion in the technology of the future. second, each year they hack and steal $500 billion of tech and trade secrets from the united states and the third case is they want to make the globe increasingly dependent on its technology so it gains political and economic leverage and also embeds communist values into the global digital infrastructure. those values couldn't be different than america's.

maria: okay. all right. well, that's good. mr. chairman, look, the way i see it, looks like you still have at least four or five areas of compromise that still need be done. you've got salt, the pass-through for small business, you've got medicaid, well, maybe medicaid's decided. you tell us. you've got the ira, the inflation reduction act and the green energy credits. you've got snap and other extras like student lending, a.i., et cetera, et cetera. so where are you on those other main points here in terms of compromise they. >> so my friends on the other side of the building in the senate are starting to realize that what we accomplished in the house of representatives by threading a very careful needle to pass the one big beautiful bill, more than five weeks ago, was all about balance. that is what the senate has to maintain right now to get their 51 votes over there and to make sure whatever they change can be passed in the house. we passed it originally, 215-214 in the house of representative

maria: yeah.on from wisconsin also was with us last week and over the weekend with me again, and he is insisting that this has to be in two bills, that it's just too much in one bill. how would that fly in the house after you've already passed this? >> maria, it would be dead on arrival. rubber has hit the pavement. the people and the president of the united states, they want action, maria. we delivered out of the house the largest tax cut in u.s. history. the largest cut to mandatory spending of $1.69 trillion in u.s. history. the most significant welfare reforms in u.s. history. and also the largest one-time investment in border security. these are all things that the american people demanded in the last election. the house delivered on it. get the job done, united states senate. the american people are counting on it. maria: what about cutting more in terms of those entitle elements? you just is heard -- entitlements. rand paul wants cuts everywhere so that one area is not so severe relative to
