nbc bay area's thom jensen is in san francisco.as quite a bit of damage, and it looks like the residents in these five buildings, five apartment buildings, will be displaced for some time. we're told 35 total people have been displaced in those five buildings, and it could be a while before they can return home. san francisco firefighters responded to this fire in the 500 block of fifth avenue in the inner richmond district just before 2:00 this morning, and expanded to four alarms as the fire spread from one building to the next. san francisco fire posted video to social media showing how flames engulfed the upper floors of the first building, and then they were able to control it after it moved on to those other buildings, keeping it to the five apartment buildings that were damaged here. the fire chief told us there were no injuries besides a firefighter who rolled her ankle during the firefight, and he said that the apartments in that first multiplex and the adjoining buildings were cleared pretty quickly. a man who lives in th

matt bradley, nbc news, jerusalem. well, back to that richmond-san rafael bridge issue where traffic was back up is back up and running. this is after being shut down for emergency repairs. nbc bay area's ginger conejero saab has what caltrans is saying. the day after those repairs were done, caltrans says crews were able to fix the issue. it took most of the day yesterday and went into the evening commute, impacting a lot of commuters. this is what caused it all. crumbling concrete onhe upper deck of the san rafael or of the richmond-san rafael bridge, it was discovered during yesterday's commute. caltrans quick to close almost all lanes for the emergency repairs, which included cutting a rectangle around the damaged area and replacing it with rebar and concrete. the closures lasted most of the day and went into the evening hours. this morning, caltrans says it is safe to use the bridge. the bridge is structurally safe. there was a major seismic retrofit done to all of our large scale toll bridges in the 90s and the e
