others there to make sure the rosie story is passed on through rosie's trust. i've been able to educate myself, and now i've made it my mission to educate the next generation. rosie the riveter is a cultural icon, representing the women who worked in the factories and shipyards during world war two. fighting the war from the home front. knowing how impactful the rosies were back during the war. it empowered me to go into the military. so i went into the navy trying to be of service, just like they did. 104 year old marcella hubba moved from mississippi to california, joining her brother out here in 1943. she got a job at marinship in sausalito cleaning tanks. her brother didn't like that for her. he thought welding would be better, but they wouldn't allow her to go to welding school because she was a black female. so on his own, he taught her to weld at night. she took the test and passed, becoming one of the few black women working in the shipyards. saturdays rosie rally brought together five generations of marcella's family. my boys, they're. they're 13 and 1
