health care workers claim ucsf has never prioritized keeping care in oakland. the union says on average, an employee would lose $10,000 in take home pay. and for some who call children's hospital oakland family, they would lose their seniority. i've been at children's hospital for 32 years. so if this integration is allowed to happen, my pension will stop and i'll go into a new pension system at ucsf and i will be vested. but i will not get my years of service. so my 32 years means nothing. also, i will lose my seniority. so i think that a person that is working at ucsf that gets hired on july 5th, the integration is supposed to happen on july 6th, so they will have more seniority than i have. so i have nothing. i've been working here 32 years and i work here 32 years because i love the patients and the people that work at children's. this is just like a family. everybody in the community has a children's hospital story because we take care of our community. and i don't believe that ucsf will be able to take care of children's hospital community because they're
