i feel like everything is tracking us these days in walnut creek. jodi hernandez, nbc bay area news. he's calling it a miracle. tonight, we're hearing from the father of the young child who was hurt when a massive oak tree came crashing down on their car on the peninsula. it happened yesterday in san mateo. the tree snapped and fell onto two cars just outside the green fashion nursery, ninth avenue. humberto montoya was inside one of those cars with his four year old son. he was able to get out, but his son was trapped under a crushed steering wheel. montoya tells us crews helped remove the car door, cut the steering wheel so they could get that little boy out. he says his son is now recovering in the hospital with a broken leg. i'm not sure why we're still alive, honestly, but it's just a miracle. but it was it was very, very scary in the moment. my son was actually panicked. he. he never been through these situations. yeah, frighteningor sure. in a statement, a spokesperson for the city of san mateo says the tree was located on a public sidewalk w

it is cool and clear in walnut creek. we're at 54 degrees as you're heading out the door, mostly low to mid 50s across the bay area with a look at palo alto. it's 54 here, partly cloudy, and we will be clearing out within the next couple of hours. the rest of the day is sunny and our temperatures are headed for the upper 70 here, and 78 degrees in hayward. it will be 83 in concord. and looking at some low 80s for morgan hill to san jose, very close to normal high temperatures aga for this afternoon. mike, how's it looking for those gas prices? you know, a pretty good start to the week. and kari, i saw some prices locally to my area go down about 7 or $0.08. so that's good. the lowest price i see right now in the bay is 419. in the south bay we have it at cupertino, at shell on stevens creek boulevard. another place is alameda county. there's one spot in union city at national on alvarado boulevard, also with 419. that's alvarado at dyer street. and in marin county. we're looking at the low 427. mill valley has that county

walnut creek area. there's a crash in walnut creek, southbound 680 at the north main exit.hat slow is very slow. coming from concord and pleasant hill into walnut creek. so if you're getting on the freeway on highway 24, you're saying, hey, where is everybody? they're stuck behind this crash at north main. there's also another crash on 680 southbound near burnell. there's another one near sunol. so 680 southbound. getting to the sunol grade is pretty slow. we had an earlier crash in mountain view near moffett field that's been cleared, but traffic is still slow. and northbound 87 at 280, there's a crash there involving an overturned vehicle. 87 is backed up all the way back to 85. that's a long backup for this time of the morning. and there's a crash at the bay bridge in between the metering lights and the bay bridge. so between the toll plaza and the metering lights, there's a new crash there. and now things are slowing way down. so all of a sudden we have a spate of new incidents. that's our traffic camera, by the way. let's bring steve back in with today's weather. >> al
