abc seven news reporter zach fuentes is live in san jose. and zach, this ends months of back and forth between union members and the transit agency. >> that's right. it has been such a long process. and finally, just before 2:00 this morning, the vote tally was released. it showed that 689 atu local 265 members voted yes on ratification, 298 voted no. and so this newly approved contract includes a 14.5% wage increase spread over four years, vta said. that's 4%, 3.5%, 3%, and then another 4%. and this does come after those contentious negotiations that led to the historic strike this year that at one point shut down vta service. a judge ordered workers to return to the job, but an agreement still wasn't reached until now. union leadership says this offer didn't meet all of their demands, but in a letter overnight, it did thank workers for their solidarity and patience in what it called a very long process. now, we did hear from the union before voting closed at ten last night, who said it was leaving the choice solely up to each member. >> not

it is saturday, june 21st, i'm zach fuentes. and why don't we start with a quick look at weather with meteorologist lisa argen while we talk about those conditions. >> that's right. the winds have been quite gusty. yesterday we saw wind gusts over 50 miles an hour. it's all due to this upper level trough that continues to move to the south and to the east of the bay area. as it does, the winds will weaken for the second half of the weekend. but right now it is 57 and the winds are light. in santa cruz it is 54 downtown with some low 60s in oakland. the winds have been gusty up in santa rosa nevado at half moon bay, but you can see how mild it is from the low to upper 60s. and there's where we have the wind again right at the coast. it will fill in throughout the day and we'll see elevated fire danger from the north bay mountains to the east bay mountains. and temperatures, though, will be comfortable 60s and 70s with a few low 80s. notice the absence of fog. we'll talk about some subtle changes for your sunday coming up. zach. >
