tomorrow night it will be scott olson coming off the dl against ricky nolasco of florida. >> scott won 12, he pitched three straight years. they're saying his velocity is up two miles per hour. it was 88 to 91 when he was here. we were talking about his velocity. nolasco struggles for two starts. giving up eight runs. but his last four he's only given up five runs. he's striking out a lot of people, he struck out 25 and walked five, so he's back on top of that stretch. >> the nats really about due to take on florida. there you see scott olson's numbers. 41 innings pitched, 18 walks, 29 strikeouts. nolasco who beat the nationals the opening game of the year, then scott olson lost to florida in the second game of the year. we talked a little about craig stammen going to the bullpen on our pregame show. you now the word is he will start tuesday in florida against the marlins. >> just explain that, martis was pitching. report came that stammen was going to be stay here. and so they say he's going to the bullpen. maybe they've changed their mind with martis, possibly if stammen is going to

they decided to bring scott olson back off the dl. the conventional wisdom was had a one of the starting pitchers would be sent down, but they've decided to put craig stammen in the bullpen and let him work out of there for now, so that means one of the relievers will have to be designated for assignment. the obvious choices are colome or hanrahan. in the case of hanrahan, there still is a lot of interest from other teams and i don't think the nationals would be able to send him down without losing him altogether, not to mention the fact that as much as he's struggled, he's still a young guy who the organization thinks could conceivably put it all together at some point. as for colome, we've seen him here for now three years, he's had his moments here and there, but particularly this year has not been very effective. it would seem to me that's the most logical move to come after this game, but we'll find out once the game is over, i guess. that's it from here. >> thank you very much. there's the numbers comparing jesus colome and joel

scott olson makes his return to the big league roster in the starting rotation with the nationals. what can we expect from him? >> he's been up to i think it's 86 pitches in syracuse, we'll just watch, because this heat takes a lot out of you, we'll see how he's doing. if he spots his fastballs and gets some quick outs, he can get us a little deeper in the game. but i expect him to use his fastball, his velocity has been a little better than when he left. >> kind of the most mature i think you could say as far as baseball goes is john lannan. other than olsen who has over 100. he's really progressed into the ace of this staff. in june every start he's averaged over seven innings. kind of break down john lannan. what does he do on his side days? how's his approached change at the major league level? >> i can't say what his approach was before i got here, because i don't know what he was doing, but since he's been here when he goes out and works on stuff, very seldom do we throw off-speed pitches. we just want to locate his fastball. throws some change-ups. he's got a good breaking b

>> when scott olson comes back, the nationals are going to have a decision to make probably between ross detwilerer and stammen to decide which pitch tore send down to syracuse and it will be interesting to see what they do here because detwilerer was the guy that wasn't really on anyone's radar to make this team. he was the first-round pick in 2007, and he had a pretty disasterous spring training and nobody really expect him to be here. the plan was to deep him at syracuse and let him develop, but he has pitched well enough here to keep him full-time and stammen has been in the minors full-time and was not really on anyone's radar to be here but kind of came in the back door a little bit and also has pitched well. it will be interesting to see what the nationals do in terms of -- they've had these two guys on the big league roster and they're going to be sending one counsel down. they're going to have things to work on and have to stay on the team's radar and perform well enough to get back up here in september. so when olson comes back up, which will probably be mono, that decision is
