people talk about north florida and south florida and the line goes from actually pretty far north of near to all county near jacksonville and slices diagonally across the state over to the gulf area. north florida was sparsely populated, holds out the terms of customs and beliefs and so forth, south florida was a growing area in the mid 20 a century with areas such as tampa bay area in miami dade and so you have this political battle being pitched between north and south florida. port jumpers for the senators from north florida who control the state government, they represented only 15 percent of the population but because of the way the seats were apportioned going back to post reconstruction, they could control the senate which was the seat of power, relatively weak understate in the 20th-century. most of the people who serve on this committee who initiated this committee or at the porkchoppers from north florida. one more thing to think about in this case is that it was a highly centralized government in terms of the board of education and i think it was so like any other stain at

i am concerned about the housing markets where i come from in south florida, particularly because of the lack of the quantity of staff of freddie and fannie servicing florida. i have heard from loan modification officers and other people in my district who are ready to help fanny with the caseload of foreclosures and the modifications and refinancing, but they are having trouble being approved by fannie and freddie because of the red tape. but my point is that foreclosures are going forward because we do not have the adequate staff. and we know that is unacceptable for foreclosures because there is not proper staff to do the home modifications. we have had some conversations and we recommend and ask that as we work through the difficult time period we have the staff and support to get the modifications working through the process. i look forward to the comments and the working with the members and representatives to accomplish this. thank you, mr. chairman. >> thank you mr. klein. and now we will hear from the gentleman from texas. >> thank you, mr. chairman, as a perspective from a

and let's go back down to south florida to jim hunter and buck martinez. >> thank you very much. really an exciting game, especially when the orioles fell he behind 6-1. chris ray returned to the emand he immediately got into a very close game and gave the orioles an opportunity to get back in it. >> and dave trembley did a nice job of bringing him into kind of a non-pressurized situation when he came into the ballgame because the club was down. but chris ray atoteally different caliber of pitches when we saw him tonight than when he last pitched for the orioles. he was down in the zone. very effective throughout his inning and 2/3 and he allowed just one base runner. the one thing i really liked was the location of his fastball and the fact that he got the breaking ball down in the zone. he had one strikeout through just 18 pitches in an inning and 2/3. obviously the assignment to the minor leagues really paid big dividends for chris ray. he really straightened himself out. it is good to see him throwing well again. >> it was really an indifferent night for the orioles' bullpen
