a bad year for the indiana prison system. shepard: thank you, sir. it is one of the most hotly debated issues of our time, how to fix america's ailing healthcare system. new today, the senate committee on health, education, labor and pensions voted to approve a bill, one which would provide government health insurance to nearly all americans. but here's the rub. we're told the senate plan could cost about a trillion bucks over the next decade, so where do you get a trillion bucks when we're flat broke as a nation? well, you tax, of course, and in this case, the thinking is that a new tax to the wealthiest americans, up to 5.4%, and not only the wealthiest americans but also small businesses. medical providers and employers would also have to pony up and that has critics fuming but president obama is pushing hard on this bill today, reiterating his stance that we can no longer afford to just sit on our hands. >> in the last decade, health insurance premiums have risen three times faster than wages. deductibles and out of pocket costs are skyrocketing
