ed lavandera, thanks so much. >>> some amazing stories of survival here. a 5-month-old baby is in good condition after being stabbed with a needle and dumped in the convenience store trash bin. oklahoma city police say witnesses called 911 after seeing a woman stabbing the baby in the store parking lot. when police arrived they found the woman walking on the street naked. they then followed a trail of blood to a trash can where they found the baby crying. the woman and the baby were taken to the hospital. >>> also, a boy was buried in the sand on a maryland beach was dead, but this story has a happy ending. he was digging a tunnel tuesday when it collapsed. he had no pulse and wasn't breathing and completely lifeless. life guards started giving him cpr. take a listen. >> about four cycles through cpr we started realizing his eyes started to open up and he started to gasp. >> when he started gasping a little and his eyed opened, it was a relief. >> imagine the relief that was. now, the beach patrol there advises people not to dig holes more than knee deep.

with us, florida state prosecutor pam bondi, and ed lavandera, with cnn. ed has been all over this one. ed, last press conference wrapped up just a little while ago. what did we learn from that? >> reporter: well, it's been rather fast-moving day. around lunchtime today, authorities here put out an alert that they were looking for a woman by the name of pamela long, and then three hours later, they announced that woman, indeed, had been found, in orange beach, alabama, west of where we are in southern alabama, at a marina. had been found there by the local police department there. we're told she's on her way back here, driving with her attorney to provide, or, to go with questioning here with authorities. they still say that this is only a person of interest. whether or not she becomes a suspect or is a suspect or is just someone they are using to build this case further, authorities here won't speculate on that. but that's what's taking place here. >> all right, ed. what's her relationship with the alleged organizer, mastermind, leonard gonzalez jr. at le

ed lavandera has been chasing the story in escambia county in northwest florida. here is mike brooks that is joining us with his latest we've heard, a couple things. we're just getting our hands on wiggins' latest arrest report. some interesting details now. we've also learned that she's posted bond. she's no longer in jail here in pensacola. but back to that arrest report, actually, there was a video, a video of authorities taking into -- or compounding a red minivan. this is different than the dodge van that was seen in the surveillance video. but there was this other red minivan, some questions as to what exactly this was. appare apparently, according to this arrest report, this red minivan was placed near the home of the billings the day of the murder and also used to help the suspects get away. in the arrest report, it says that vehicle is registered to pamela wiggins, so we know authorities have been saying that wiggins is a good friend of leonard patrick gonzalez jr., who they say the is the mastermind. but she's been charged with accessory after the fact,

cnn's ed lavandera on the case for us in pensacola. ed, help us out. what can you confirm? >> reporter: well, i guess we should start off with these reports with connections to organized crime and that sort of thing. we have been hearing on background from various people most of the week about these connections involving these suspects. however, as we have tried to gather information on that, we have kept hitting roadblocks. and, in fact, we're hearing from various colleagues of mine, hearing from various federal sources on this, that at this point, there just doesn't seem to be enough there. we don't get the sense from the sources on the federal level that we're talking to that there's much credence to -- to any kind of organized crime on behalf of these -- of these suspects. so, it's been, you know, a very delicate thing, but it has been adding to the swirl of speculation that has been going on with this story throughout most of the week. but that's kind of where we stand there. but also a great twist, an amazing twist, this morning just as family members and friends were

we go to our ed lavandera in pensacola. why the dea? >> reporter: we have heard for several days that federal agencies have been involved in this. each days, as we've reported on it, the scope seems to grow in terms of numbers and in terms of reach. there are clearly so many unanswered questions here. all along, authorities have said that that robbery and that home invasion was one of several motives. so even though we are not able to really fill in the blanks on this, everything is coming together very slowly. what has transpired rather recently is this afternoon, authorities had put out a request for people to be on the lookout for a woman named pamela long, who is believed to be the landlord of one of the suspects arrested and a real estate agent in this pensacola area. authorities have just told us they have scheduled a press conference which will start in 30 minutes. we asked the sheriff if this means they found this woman. they told us we would have to wait until that press conference to find out. kind of reading between the lines

ed lavandera has been working on the story from our dallas bureau this morning. good morning, ed. >> good morning, joe. one of the immigrants is being held in a trailer in the small town of dale, texas an hour south of austin, texas. i w he was able to escape and reach help. one of the captors as well as 20 other immigrants, all of the immigrants believed to be 25 or so were held captive in the trailer in a town of dale, as i mentioned. this is about 250 miles north of the mexican border. and obviously not a place used to dealing with this kind of international kidnapping and human smuggling ring. >> very actively looking for him. and based on the information we have, i mean, we're obviously concerned about these folks' well being. >> so they mentioned one of those -- one of those immigrants was able to escape and alerted authorities as to what was going on. according to that immigrant who was able to escape, there was a group of 25 that were being held by three men with assault rifles. they went on to describe they'd been held without food or water for quite som

joining me to talk about this, ed lavandera reporter from cnn. we have the seven. still the number one question is why, who would want to kill these two people who are so loving and so giving? >> well, that's where we're still at. for several days, authorities in pensacola have been saying that robbery was perhaps one of several motives. but authorities backtracking away from that substantial little saying that it appears robbery will probably be the most prominent motive in this case. authorities telling us today that the men who had broken into the house, they say made away with a medium sized safe and would not tell us what was inside and whether or not any of it has been recovered. they say that was the motive that brought those men into that house. they do go on to say, however in, the course of investigating these men they came across all sorts of other types of activity they've passed on to other law enforcement agencies and that slowed down the investigation checking out the boundaries of these suspects. >> what do we know about their background? any of the

our ed lavandera is working this one from our dallas bureau. ed, what have you got? >> pretty fascinating. actually police found out about this because one of the immigrants in this group managed to escape, snuck out through the bottom of the trailer, was able to reach authorities. he had told authorities that there were some 25 immigrants that were being held against their will by three captors who were in the process of smuggling them into this country. all of this taking place near austin, texas, in a small town southeast of austin called dale. far from -- 250 miles away from the border, and that's what makes this case so unique. this is not the kind of place where you're used to seeing these types of authorities unfold. but authorities say they believe that once they got there, they were only able to find six of the immigrants. they believe that one of the captors in and the remaining immigrants may -- got away before the authorities had gotten there. but they say that this is not something they're used to seeing there. >> we've never had a situation like this be

>> ed lavandera is watching this. he's been watching this story closely for us. i want to get some more now on what is going on, perhaps the motive, perhaps more. joining us now is david morgan. he's the sheriff there in pensacola, florida. he's been on top of this from the beginning. he's joining us right now live. sheriff, thanks very much for coming in. let's walk through. for some of our viewers who may not have been following this as closely as you or i -- you're obviously following it a lot more closely than i am -- is there a clear motive that you have discerned as of right now? >> we have a motive that we're working on as the primary motive in this case, wolf, and that is a home invasion/robbery. but as we've shared with folks throughout this investigation, we believe as the investigation continues and more information is released into the public venue, people will see that there's really more than one motive involved in this crime. again, we're not at liberty to release that at this time, but this is a story that i think will intrigue everyone for years

ed lavandera has new details from pensacola. >>> john, kiran. investigators are now focusing on what brought the seven suspects together to carry out what they say was the brutal murders of the billings. >> patrick gonzalez jr. was the ring leader of the seven suspects that murder eed the billings. he declared his nepinnocence. it's the first time we heard from any of the accused. >> circumstantial evidence and the confession of a mentally challenged person with a long history of false statements and confessions. >> reporter: we don't know who he's talking about but all of the men who carried out what they called the methodical and chilling murders of the billings coup couple. these are the pictures of the suspects facing murder charges, one we can't show you because he's a juvenile. three are from the pensacola area. the other four are from the ft. walton beach area. some have a military background. the air force con if i wered stallwart is an active duty staff sergeant. they utilized military-style training to rehearse the attack on the billin

let's go down ed lavandera. ed, what do we know now? >> authorities in pensacola are interviewing a many woman of interest who they say is perhaps the landlord, dealt in real estate in the pensacola area. authorities say she, perhaps has been in contact with the person who authorities say was the ring leader of these murders. leonard patrick gonzalez jr. and pamela laverne long had been in touch with him the days before and perhaps even the day of the murder. because of that, they want to speak with her. they found her shortly a short while after they announced they were looking for her. she was found in orange beach, alabama. which i'm told is 40 miles west of pensacola. we were told she is coming back here on her own driving with her attorney. we don't know the extent of what has happened during those communications between investigators of her at this point. we're waiting to hear the details on that. the other fascinating thing we're learning, even though authorities feel they found the seven people they believe were on the property
