inside to betty. >>> 7-year-old kyron horman vanished in oregon over a month ago. a judge ruled his stepmother, the last person to see him before he disappeared must leave the home she shared with the boy and his father. it's the latest twist in a case full of them. it was this photo taken june 4th at a school science fair that launched a nationwide effort to find kyron horman. the frantic search by authorities in oregon has come up empty, but now, six weeks later, all the attention seems squarely focused on er terri horman, kyron's stepmother to w.h.o. took the photo. her husband filed for divorce, gained custody of the couple's daughter and forced her out of the family home. a landscaper told authorities she wanted to pay him to kill her husband. then came an alleged sexting relationship with one of his high school friends. she's now the victim of a media frenzy and that she's received threats of harm from people in the community. despite the family drama, authorities have few leads, no named suspects and no sign at all of the 7-year-old child missing for 43 days

we have yet to hear answers as to whether kyron is alive or deceased. >> investigators have received over 300 leads but so far none that led them to kyron. >>> in leland, north carolina, a tiny miracle. a little boy survived an operation to remove a metal rod launched in his brain after a freak accident. cbs's whit johnson reports. >> reporter: a leisurely saturday nearly turned deadly when josiah jackson fell from a chair and landed on this rod. this, the unbelievable result, the metal rod launched three inches into his brain. his uncle was with him at the time. luckily he had training as an emt. >> i just knew to keep his head still. >> the rod came near severing blood flow between the brain and heart. >> this could not have been in a worse location. if there was any injury to that, that could have resulted in instant death. that could have resulted in a massive stroke. that could have resulted in a terrible outcome. >> doctors told grandfather joseph jones that little josiah's chances were grim by the time he got to the care of newer surgeons at the the north carolina hospital. >>

kyron horman's father wants his soon to be ex-wife to help pay his legal fees. he claims he is entitled to half of any money she may have. the father believes the stepmother is involved in kyron's disappearance last month though police have not declared her a suspect. >>> we've learned this morning that oregon police have questioned former vice president al gore about allegations that he sexually abused a massage therapist. a law enforcement source confirms to portland's abc affiliate that detectives interviewed gore in san francisco on thursday. after dropping the case earlier this year, police recently reopened their investigation. gore, meanwhile, has denied the accusations. >>> closing arguments in the rod blagojevich corruption trial could continue today unless the judge sends one of the defense lawyers to jail. an attorney for the former illinois governor argued with the judge over what he can and cannot say in his closing argument. the judge then threatened to hold him in contempt. the lawyer insists saying he will defy the judge's order. >>> the southern
