san francisco is a large city. so if we adjust this for injuries per capita, we still see san francisco is still showing a lot of pedestrian injuries but not as strongly, now we see that san francisco and berkley have maybe close to 2 times as many pedestrian injuries as san jose or richmond. this does again men t mean that francisco is more dangerous place to walk than san jose or richmond. what we need to do is account for the amount of walking, and this is using census data. we don't do a good job in america keeping track of how much walking occurs. census data asks how you get to work on the long form. it turns out to pretty good measure of walking in the community, but as you can see here there's ten times as much walking in berkley or san francisco as maybe san jose or richmond. so, if we adjust the per capita injury rate for the number of walkers, we see a very different view of the injury rate here in san francisco. actually san francisco and berkley now look quite good. the injury risk per person walking i

what an exciting day for san francisco. when we can all come together to be reminded of our traditions and the courage of our first responders. i'm so excited to be here with the fire chief. he's been remembering how the fire department helped us out of the earthquake some few years before coit tower was built and also of course with our fire chief remembering the important role that the first responders play. telegraph hill has always been a place that our citizens gather in san francisco, the beautiful vantage points over which christopher column buss looks out. as an italian american i take special pride in the fact that columbus is here. and over the years i took my children and more recently visitors and members of the congress to telegraph hill to see this incredible monument to love of san francisco. to see the murals inside which are a tribute to the working man. some find that controversial. i don't and i think it's time to remind ourselves of that at this time and to remember that those were projects of the w.p.a.

i own two liquor licenses in san francisco. born and raised here for 57 years and i've got 40 years of bar ownership or management. i came on short notice. i don't have slides, graphs, powerpoint presentations, but i can positively tell you of the five cents of tax issue per beverage that has been brought upon us over the last 40 years, it has never occurred on a federal level or a state level that the five cent per beverage remains after it's been distributed through. so this does positively come anywhere from 25 cents to 50 cents per unit per beverage when this is all multiplied out. on top of all the business tax and everything else as any small business in san francisco, i urge you to vote no on that. one other thing i'd like you to know which has been mentioned, if you go through bars, cafes, pizza parlors, large and small restaurants, retail stores, liquor stores, wine stores, sporting venues and hotels, it's approximately 100 pages of the yellow page correctly. all of these customers will be affected by these tax increas

because san francisco is so young. -- because san francisco is so young, it is riddled by faults. i have a map that shows the faults across the bay area and san francisco. the granddaddy of all of these is the san andreas fault. it is the longest. it can generate the greatest earthquakes. >> it is just south of san francisco. it goes offshore down here. >> from my house to the fault is about 3 miles on average. >> the closest area in san francisco to the fault is this area here in the southwest part of the city. people said that the closer you are, there are conditions that exacerbate issues. >> the fault's effect on development depends on the fault type and soil component. the san andreas is the main fault. there is the hayward fault. the difference between the two is that the san andreas is predominantly offshore. the hayward fault actually crosses beneath populated areas and poses a larger threat. as we speak, there is a 67% probability of a major earthquake on one of these faults in the next 30 years. it is of major -- high probability. it is a magnitude 6.5. the 1906 was 7.9.
