the wind has been strong this on the eastern shore. adjusting to 38 in georgetown. -- gusting to 38 in georgetown. this boston area is where the tornado watch is in effect primarily for the eastern shore. all of that kinds of lines up as the worst weather shifts to the east but most spots will deal with wind and rain. southeast wind hopefully shifting to the northwest. we should be getting a shift to the northwest and that will help to flush some of the water out of the bay. still, tides will run another two-3 feet on top of what is normal. you see this cold front and there is the low that brought the rain today. this is a low pressure area with tropical moisture. only the east coast has nasty weather. the vast majority of the nation under strong high pressure and people are enjoying a beautiful weather pattern while we have to deal with this tropical in connection for about 18-24 hours. you can see the rain tapering off tomorrow morning. we should get some sun tomorrow. there is some cloudy weather coming out of western pennsylvania a

from the northern parts of eastern shore down to chestertown. it's eased up now and the start south, you can see over the border, there's more rain and more rain in this. it's going to continue. we have flash flood warns until 4:30 and until we saw the heavier rain -- that's in the darker green and because of this pattern continuing. there's a chance for more to occur. here's the situation. the rain moved in yesterday and it seemed heavier at times and the waves will come up from the south and they'll come up from a few passes. and the winds came from the south east and they're out of the west. and that's because the band has pretty much set up over the appalachians heres. and we have coastal flood warns in effect. and temperaturewise, the temperatures have gone up and we got up to 77 and we're at 75 now. and here's the cooler air at 63 and in the 50s in the mountains. we're not going to change much through the first half of tomorrow. this brings around rain and thunderstorms an it continues to push off to the north east. it will leave us later

shore md. -- rains are making their way to the eastern shore tonight. we are on the western edge of all of that but lighter showers around baltimore and the i-95 corridor. we will continue to see this train, up from the south. there is a fresh batch coming up from central virginia right now. overnight, expect more showers and a few claps of thunder. we do have a flood threats continuing, however. a couple of different varieties year. it could fled low-lying areas south of the bay. it is a coastal flood warning. southerly winds have pushed the water into the bay. the thais who run it 2 feet above normal. the potential is there for some minor court moderate coastal flooding. over an inch of rain at the airport so far. temperatures were above normal today, even with the rain. they're holding in the 70's right now. 73, downtown baltimore. that contrasts between monday tropical air in the east and colorful air in the west. that boundary will continue to generate some showers as we had to sunrise. you can see the warmer air over the mid atlantic. cooler air i

on to the eastern shore, not much change. very nice conditions vary -- all the way down to the coast. they have called back a couple of degrees now. on the cooler side of things in allegheny county. 68 degrees. we have seen some scattered high clouds at times. the high-pressure generally in the control which will produce high winds. near the pennsylvania border, we can see some temperatures in the low 50's by morning. closer to the low 60's @ inner harbor. we have seen some cold front dropping out of canada and trying to push toward our region. the most recent showers at the canadian border have been running out of steam and moisture. we have a couple of scattered clouds associated with that. that is what we're seeing today. the front went through our region almost unnoticed and then scattered cloud cover. high pressure coming in behind it should deliver another beautiful day tomorrow. this front may be of little stronger and more organized as it comes in thursday evening which is the next best chance for rain. tomorrow will

highs near 80, could get storms on the eastern shore. a look at the all-important weekend coming up. >> see you in a few minutes. >>> firefighters are trying to figure out how to deal with car fires, a rash of fires in one area has caught the attention of investitors. they believe they may be the work of one person or a group of people. the fire in estion started in late august, in the 1300 block of 16th street. where firefighters will search today. what are they looking for today? do they have a suspect? >> reporter: they do not. what they have are a lot of similarities in a specific geographic area. here along 16th street, we have a scorch mark there. this is where a fire occurr back in august. several vehicles on this block, on the 3600 block of 16th street. cars and mopeds torched. they believe they were suspicious, they didn't hpen naturally. a person or group of people are responsible, and perhaps for other fires in this area as well. investigators are focussing on this area from orgia avenue to 16th street and northwest. it spread

i had one report from one of our weather watches on the eastern shore, they had lightning extended, which isn't common with a tropical system. we have a tornado watch until 1:00 p.m., all the orange-shaded counties in maryland which include carol, baltimore, harford, cecil, down through howard, anne arundel, and off towards the eastern shore. those pink counties to our south, calvert and st. mary's. that's a tornado warning, extending through 7:00. because of doppler radar-indicated rotation, which is the first sign that something may drop from the clouds, a funnel cloud and touch the ground. nothing has been confirmed on the ground as of yet. pushing to the north at 40 miles per hour. so this thing is racing to the north. next one on the list could very well be anne arundel county. we're watching it right now. we could take it in closer, you can see what appears to be circulation around the orange shading near chesapeake beach and through eagle harbor. we'll watch that area head up towards the north at nearly 40 miles per hour. really a deal, you may be dealing with this shortly. shady s

it's about to move over the eastern shores of the bay. and dorchester, talbott counties, queen anne's you'll be getting a band of rain over the next half hour or so. rig now the radar showing these other pockets of so orange and yellow. those are areas of some very heavy rain that are falling here just to the south of washington. right near alexandria to mount rnon rht along the tidal potomac, and western charles county, eastern stafford, and northeastern county of spotsylvania, this is continuing to move to the north. rain in loudoun county and frederick county in maryland. temperatures around t region are in the 60s to near 70. all these counties under a flash flood warning, meaning we do have flooding under way right now in these counties in northern virginia, the distct, and much of maryland and montgomery and prince george's anne arundel, calvert and st. mary's. rain fall totals have been almo four inches in southern maryland. we've had over an inch and a half in washington. the temperatures will hold steady while this rain comes dow
