ktvu's amber lee has more now on how security procedures are being ramped up now. she is live at sfo. amber? >> reporter: frank, we spoke with officials here at sfo. everyone we spoke with was tight lipped but do say they stepped up security. airport police told us more passengers are getting patted down as they go through the security check points. several canine units have been patrolling the terminals. and it appears that psa workers are taking a closer look at items in carry-on luggage. passengers told us they are prepared to wait in longer lines if necessary. how do you feel about flying tonight? >> it is a little bit scary. but i mean we have flown before. we have had problems with security before. so try not to think about it, i suppose. >> reporter: the department of homeland security says it has also heightened cargo screening. tonight we spoke with federal express and ups. both carriers declined to say what security measures are in place but say they constantly look to improve safety. karen cole of ups spoke to us by phone at ups headquarters in atlanta,

amber lee has the report. >> reporter: we're in the backyard of family home in the spray zone. experts are asking people not to let water stagnate in pools such as this one because they can attract mosquitoes. less than an hour ago, a crew with the vector district drove through the neighborhood spraying. officials say they need to spray pesticide to stop mosquitoes from transmitting the west nile virus. this homeowner questions whether spraying is necessary with only three human cases county wide. >> we have a large population, i don't think that's a large enough percentage to spray. but it's up to the health department isn't it. >> reporter: neighbors said the district needs to do a better job of when and where they are spraying. >> we have not been notified. >> that's the first i've heard of it. >> reporter: what's your reaction? >> i think we should have been notified so we could bring our pets inside. >> any effects you might have as an adult, human would be very temporary. as where west nile virus can cause damage. >> reporter: vector control says it does notify residents

amber lee in marin county tonight with our report. >> reporter: the principal sent this letter home to parents and students letting them know that a 13 year old student killed himself sometime last night or early this morning. tonight school officials and community activists and members gathered here on the steps of city hall to raise awareness about teen suicide. >> i'm just heart broken. it's tragic. yeah, i'm still reeling with it. incredibly sad. >> reporter: the county sheriff's department told us a passer by found the boy hanging from a tree around 7:15 this morning. investigators say the teen's parents were notified by neighbor and were at the scene before deputies arrived. news spread quickly and raised concerns. this was the second teen suicide in a week. the first one was last monday, a 14 year old girl from nearby teralinda high. >> as parents, we need to keep talking to our kids and understanding them. >> reporter: investigators told us they do not know what led the teens to commit suicide, but community members and teens we spoke with say often bullying and the pressure to

amber lee in marin county tonight with our report. >> reporter: the principal sent this letter home to parents and students letting them know that a 13 year old student killed himself sometime last night or early this morning. tonight school officials and community activists and members gathered here on the steps of city hall to raise awareness about teen suicide. >> i'm just heart broken. it's tragic. yeah, i'm still reeling with it. incredibly sad. >> reporter: the county sheriff's department told us a passer by found the boy hanging from a tree around 7:15 this morning. investigators say the teen's parents were notified by neighbor and were at the scene before deputies arrived. news spread quickly and raised concerns. this was the second teen suicide in a week. the first one was last monday, a 14 year old girl from nearby teralinda high. >> as parents, we need to keep talking to our kids and understanding them. >> reporter: investigators told us they do not know what led the teens to commit suicide, but community members and teens we spoke with say often bullying and the pressure to
