let's go live to ktvu reporter claudine wong who is on this breaking news. >> reporter: good morning, sal. we are on the side. you can see behind me, this crash that is making a mess. what you're looking at is a traverse behind that vehicle, however, are two more vehicles. this is a three-car accident that one vehicle you see was going the wrong way down the tube when this very, very serious accident happened. we had a couple of minutes to talk to alameda police before we got on. and they told me this started as a traffic stop. we're still trying to get more details and trying to get the conditions of the victims. this is a very serious crash. i can tell you when i was down there and looking at the other vehicle, it was not in shape. we are just getting into this. we are told this happened a little after midnight. so we are hours into this. but still a lot of questions. again, we're going to go down and talk more with police. if you are heading from oakland to alameda, the tube is closed. you will not be able to get through. you will have to go around to 23rd and get over that way. ob

good morning, claudine. >> reporter: good morning, day. you know, as you hear the details of this rescue, it does seem pretty incredible. you have a good samaritan who was not only very observant but also very persistent not giving up when the suspect did not want to pull over. even the police chief is calling the rescue of this 8- year-old girl a, quote, miracle of god. certainly statistics aren't encouraging in these types of situations. fresno's police chief saying in the case of stranger abductions, 40% of kidnapped kids are killed before police are even called and within 24 hours 90% are dead. but this story beats those odds and that's thanks to a man who not only watched the news but did something about it. now, for some reason yesterday morning the suspect, 24-year- old gregorio gonzalez, came back into the neighborhood where this 8-year-old girl was abducted just 11 hours earlier. that's when victor perez saw him. perez had been seeing pictures of gonzalez's truck on tv so when it drove by he took action. >> i was yelling but i kep

claudine. >> reporter: good morning, kraig. the search for the two suspects responsible for this terrifying ordeal continues this morning. we are at the intersection near where all of this happened. a family of 12 held up in a home invasion. it happened overnight. one of the victims told ktvu that a family member was actually outside the home smoking when the two suspects approached around 11:00 last night. the suspects who police say were wearing hoods over their heads forced the family member back into the house. one was carrying a silver revolver. one family member was apparently held at gunpoint while the suspects went through the house stealing cash and electronic equipment including a computer. there were actually 12 victims inside this house when all of this happened. they range in age from 3 years old to 70 years old. fortunately no one was hurt and the suspect sped away in the silver infinity. we don't have a more details description of the suspects for you right now. but we can tell you that we're looking into a coupl
