and meteorologist jeff ranieri is inside the ballpark with the forecast for us. how does it feel out there tonight, jeff? >> reporter: well, you know, it feels cool, but for right now, jessica, the sun, it is, you know, shining bright. you know we have those clouds moving in and, you know, somehow i did manage to pass here into the park but right on the field. we'll show you what's happening behind me. the padres warming up. the giants were out here earlier, and they are certainly in high spirits tonight. the fans, they are loud. they're excited. and of course anticipating a win tonight, which would give the giants the division win. now, also these 41,000-plus seat, they are filling up quickly, expecting a sellout tonight. and by this weekend, these fans are rallying, it would mean over this 34 3 million fans coming out and attending game, which would put the league -- the giants in the top ten for the league in terms of attendance. let's gets to our weather maps for tonight and what we are expecting here for the giants as we continue through the evening. we'll b

jeff ranieri joins us now. jeff, you played your cards right, mister, because it's a fabulous night out here. >> yeah, it really is. that forecast pulling through after we had that rain we were dealing with earlier. we have a bird's-eye view up above all of the action outside of the stadium. you can smell the ballpark food just a couple of hundred feet from the stadium. if you listen and you're outside the stadium, it's almost like a quiet hum of nothing but hollering from the giants fans. as one of our local papers put it, bash the braves, and also fear the beard. of course due to our pitching staff that have all seemed to grown out some sort of beard or whatnot. let's zoom out here and you can back here behind me, at&t park. we're right here at third and king street as the fans continue to pour in and no fog in sight. in fact it looks like it's going to be a fog-free start to the game. we have a little bit of wind, but temperatures are in the upper 50s and low 60s. take a look as my man rich pans over here do

meteorologist jeff ranieri is here with the details for us. how long is this heat wave going to last? >> about a two-day event for us here. one of the first widespread red flag fire warnings we have seen in months. a larger warning area than we saw all of summer. we had record setting temperatures with santa rosa in the north bay with close to 89. san francisco airport hot for your standards with close to 90 degrees. now, these winds 5 to 10 miles per hour. the key is they're coming out of the north. drying and decreasing that humidityown to single digits and we're also finding some extremely gusty winds in and throughout the hills of the north bay with humidity 10% to 15%. our bdigest conrn in the east bay with winds gusting to low 30s throughout some of these canyons and hills and also for the south bay humidity nearly 10% as well. this red flag fire warning in effect through wednesday and we're also looking at a heat watch here for san francisco downtown temperatures in the upper 80s with also that dry wind remaining in place. coming up, de

let's turn it over to jeff ranieri. jeff? >> the biggest thing as tracy pointed out is the complacency that people can come under with two years with relativelyow number when is it comes to wildfires across california. take a look at 2009,y the stats up to deachlt 451,000. then we take a look at the averages. last year when you take a look at the numbers here, we were about half of what california typically sees when the acres are burned. we had about two strong years hereof low numbers of acres burned across california. leading to potentially complacency. it is in the heat like we are having. very important to get out there and make sure you are taking care o your property in the re east bay. temperatures in the low to mid 90s and in the east bay, the winds turned from the drying north easterly winds we h on monday and tuesday with the red flag fire warning to more of a westerly flow which is gradually cooling us and adding moisture to the air. we will talk about the weather coming up throughout the hour. >> thank you, jeff.

jeff ranieri is tracking a storm from our weather center. jeff. > yes, stubborn really describes this one. not only this storm but two different ones in the pacific. the first one lining up right now and it is extremely slow-moving, folks. let's take you in right now as this radar scans around a 250-mile radius. you can see where it is dry and where it is not. st bay, south bay peninsula, we are try but we are tracking some showers entering the north bay. this producing a trace to just 0.02 of an inch so not too robust but just offshore tracking rainfall amounts near 0.1 of an inch. this moving off to the noh-northeast. it is breezy as well, 10 to 20 miles per hour. let's take a look at the peninsula. world series happening right now. 10 to 20-mile-per-hour winds, o it's dry, but it is extremely breezy at the current moment. temperatures in the low 60s. hour-by-hour forecast for the game, we have a chance of showers here as we head throughout 7:00, 8:00 and 9:00 p.m. at this point. we are going to track not only this system but the other one

nbc bay area chief meteorologist jeff ranieri is here with a look at how long this fire danger could remain high. jeff? >> tom, you know this is the first widespread red flag fire warning we have seen pretty much in the past six months. now, here are some of the hotspots today, santa rosa, 97, gilroy, 91, san francisco setting a new record there at the airport with 88 today. you add in the heat with these winds out of the northwest, 10 to 15 miles per hour sustained and we are also getting winds out of the north-northwest at 30 miles per hour and that is drying out this air dramatically. in fact, the north bay, that red flag fire warning is in effect, humidity down to 10 to 15%. over here towards the east bay, not only low humidities, but gusting, the high 15 to 30 miles per hour. over here towards the hills in the south bay that red flag fire warning is in effect, humidity down to 10%. then we take you into san francisco and while temperatures are expected to be only in the upper 80s, we have had hotter weather this past couple of weeks we do have a heat watch in effect because it i
