>> reporter: good morning, pam. yeah, we are learning from the los angeles county sheriff's' office that either late last night or early this morning a special task force was involved in the arrest of alexander diaz, the man wanted in fremont. police got an arrest warrant from a judge in fremont yesterday. diaz is wanted for the attempted murder of a police officer. this all began on monday morning around10:30. police say diaz stole a delivery van full of flat- screen tvs. the call went out on police radio and a few days later diaz was spotted on mission court. patrick broward county have time to respond when police say diaz ran him over in a van. he crashed into a light pole and got away but the officer was strapped while other officers and standers by worked to free him. he had a compound fracture in his leg and according to police his toes were crushed. about 8 hours after that there was a search of a south hayward bart station. police board the train and pulled the man off. police won't say how they knew the man

i'm pam cook. time is 6:30. we are following breaking news in san francisco this morning: firefighters are working a fire at a four story building on hyde street. started shortly before 5:30 this morning. jade hernandez is out there on the scene. what can you tell us, jade? >> reporter: within the last hour heavy white smoke has just filled this neighborhood. we spoke to the fire chief who told us this is a four alarm fire and pulled firefighters out of the building at this point. i know tara was talking about the traffic problems attached to this because this intersection is closed. even down the street is blocked off so the firefighters can work. now right here at hyde and bush is the st. francis memorial hospital located right at the corner. that gives you an idea where this fire broke out at 5:00 this morning. this four story apartment building is just a few buildings southeast of st. francis. we spoke to a resident who said flames just crawled from floor to floor. >> we heard a bunch of alarms going off so
