i'm on hyde between sutter and bush. the address of the apartment building that appears to be destroyed is 824 hyde. it is a brick building. firefighters say that 50 people total have been displaced. the apartment building and two other buildings have been evacuated. the ones on either side haven't been significantly damage but the one where the fire started which apparently started on the first floor of the building was all the way up. those homes appear to be disindividual to on all four stories. it's a dense residential area. a lot of apartments building around here. a lot of the residents who live in that building were students at art academy. again, firefighters continue to try to put out the flames. we actually saw orange flames a few minutes ago amongst all this smoke here. so firefighters all they can done right now is pour water on the top because there's no way they can enter the building. we also heard some harrowing tales of people trying to escape through the backfire escape. the back of the building. it was

the building is still burning at 8:24 high street between bush and sutter. the roof of the building is still burning. inside it is so unstable firefighters can't go in and found out they couldn't go in by trying to go in through the fire escape. they're calling it they couldn't access the building. i'll step out of the way. you can take a look at the firefighters going at it down there. this is a four-story building. maybe an hour ago or so the call came in of a fire here. 50 people have been displaced. it's not just the front units or back units as well. the building certainly would appear to have the same significant damage if not totaled. there are two buildings on either side of this building. one has a zero lot line and there is damage there. they are doing what they can to preserve that building. on the other side of the four-story building burning, they have another apartment building but there is a break between the two buildings and firefighters think they have done the job on that so it's not even damaged. but both buildings have been evacuated on
