caltrain is ringing in the new year with higher fares and service changes. starting tomorrow it will cost an additional 25 cents per zone to ride caltrain that. means a one-way ticket from san francisco to san jose will go from $7.75 to $8.50. caltrain will also be getting rid of two northbound trains and two southbound trains from its midday schedule. the measures are intended to close the transit agency's $2.3 million budget gap for the 2010 through 2011 fiscal year. >>> oprah winfrey already owns daytime television but now she's going to expand her broadcast empire with her own network. the oprah winfrey network will make its official debut on cable tomorrow morning. it starts at 9:00 for people who have directv. her network will replace the discovery health channel. winfrey and the discovery network say their biggest challenge now is going to be helping people find the network. if you don't know where it is, you can't find the channel, go to oprah.com and they have a channel locator tool for you. >>> with their playoff hopes dashed, the niners are hoping
