jeff hager is out on the field standing by with an update on one of the top stories this morning. good morning, jeff. >> reporter: food morning. two men are dead after carbon monoxide fills the home here in pikesville. we will have the latest on the story coming up. >>> welcome back. it's 5:46. new information this morning on the carbon monoxide poisoning in baltimore county that left two dead and sickened several others. it happened along the 4100 block of colby road in pikesville where we find jeff hager with the latest details. jeff, good morning to you, sir. >> reporter: good morning, charlie. early on in the investigation, it appears that a faulty furnace may be to blame for the two deaths that came from carbon monoxide poisoning in a house here in the 4100 block of colby road on sunday. the two men were sleeping in the basement when the deadly gas overcame this. my colleague cheryl conner spoke to a family home who -- member who says his uncle tried to fight the effects of the deadly gas but was overcome by it. >> whiles walk up e. tried to open the door and fell e was tryin

jeff hager is live this morning with an update on the victims who were taken to the hospital. jeff. >> reporter: well, megan, tragically, it appears the home had no carbon monoxide detector, and now two men are dead. a 911 call before nine in the morning sunday brought rescue personnel to the 4100 block of colby road. two construction workers living with the family was sleeping in the basement. help would come too late to save them. >> they couldn't even speak. they was crying every moment as we was telling them. >> reporter: medics transported 11 other people, those living in the house, and some rescue personnel to area hospitals. they have been treated and released. reporting live in pikesville, jeff hager, abc2 news. >>> today, the man accused of plotting to bomb a military recruitment center will be in court this afternoon. the hearing for antono martinez was questioned by his pub -- did requested by his public defender. he is behind bars this morning without bail. he is charged with an attempted murder plot and possession of a weapon of mass destruction. police say he tri

abc2 news jeff hager traveled to the site of the fire, in the heart of havre de grace's historic district. and what a story this is. jeff? >> the faces were dark from the smoke. they didn't have much time to spare. >> reporter: a volunteer firefighter with the susquehanna hose company, tom selland did didn't have time to wait for ladder trucks, spotted smoke and discovered two people trapped on the roof of this historic home on franklin street. >> there was furniture in the back. i stood on it to reach up to them. they were able to jump from the second floor to the first floor roof. staggered back there. i was able to get their legs and help them from there. >> reporter: a glance inside the burned-out third-story apartment gives us a good idea of the magnitude of the fire. which drove the couple out the window. we're told they had been asleep and when they awoke, a roof full of flames. >> the fire marshal discovered it was either a loose connection on a baseboard heater, possibly that or something flammable was on it, and started the fire. >> reporter: once the couple reached the ground s

reporting live, jeff hager, abc # news. >>> it's minutes after five. we have new reaction to a deadly fire that killed a family of four in cecil county early saturday morning. the fire turned this makeshift trailer to ashes. it happened at an area where the wood structures are built on top of trailers. people showed up and they said the wood frame caught on fire trapping two adults and two young kids inside the camper. the family's uncle talked about the family as well as the children. >> actually, i'm police myself, and she talked about being my partner when she got older. >> when we got together, it was our kids, their kids, and we were just a big family outing when we had family outings. it was wonderful. >> neighbors say there was not enough water to fight it because the camp grounds shut shuts down the supply in november leaving year-rounders who choose to stay using waters tanks with little pressure a5th person made it out alive and is being treated -- treated for burnings. no one from the camp ground was available for comments. >>> a three-alarm

it happened in pikesville and that's where we find abc2 news jeff hager who joins us live. >> reporter: good morning. tragically, two men died and almost a dozen others had to seek treatment for carbon monoxide poisoning that was here in the 4100 block of colby road. baltimore county fire officials say a family a -- family and four construction workers were living in the home. the two men who died were sleeping in the basement and one had come here a few months ago from guatemala. he was trying to provide for his wife and six children back in his homeland. >> the children and now they are not going to get nothing but a picture of him. >> reporter: early on it looks like a faulty furnace may be to blame for this. fire official say this underscores the need for carbon monoxide detector. none were found inside the home. they say everyone should have someone do an annual inspection on the heating system every year. reporting live in pikesville, jeff hager, abc2 news. >> today, the baltimore man accused of plotting to bomb a military recruitment center is in court this afternoon. hearing wa
