the other four stations and pacifica national have made the necessary staff cuts which pacifica requested three years ago. but a small insider group at kpfa -- >> good evening, supervisors. i'm robert english and am here to also speak against the resolution. just some background, i'm a native and resident of san francisco for most of my life. i retired from civil service with the city and county after 34 years as an administrative assistant and during that time i was active with my union local 790 of sciu and helped found a chapter and represented the p.u.c. chapter and the bargaining unit and union council. i also was a founding member of the public employees for a democratic union in 2005 and also have been a long time active listener and supporter of kpfa. now, as a union man and from a union family, almost always take the side of the union in any dispute such as the problems we had at have a layo where i now -- at velayo where i now live but can't support the union in this case and have made written comments explaining why. i know this is a well intentioned resolution but unfortunatel

anne makovec is live in pacifica with the details. i'm glad you're not wearing a hat this morning, anne. >> reporter: i know. , you know, i should be because then my hair might have some hope of looking decent at some point today but it's just not the case. it is extremely windy out here along the coastline and it's going to be all day. but the good news is they just opened highway 1 in pacifica. it was closed for a few miles after a rockslide in devil's slide. let's look at some of the video that we shot at about 4:30 this morning. this was crews cleaning up the last bit of that mud slide and it was mainly mud at that point. they were making sure all the mud was off the road so cars weren't slipping around but there were a lot of rocks involved and they cleaned those up overnight. crews were out there for several hours. and this is the opening this morning was very good news for commuters because when that is closed which does happen from time to time, that can make a 10-minute commute last up to an hour.

kris was in pacifica talking about that. here the golden gate bridge, you see that the lens still glows because water is still on the lens and that will be an indication that you've got to make sure your windshield wipers are in good condition as well. smooth drive across the bridge but wet roadways. further north we're looking at one lane blocked by a sig alert but that's as you're heading north. so most of our viewers won't run into that. the bay bridge, we do have an issue. the metering lights are on but not an issue for these folks. the wet roadways are the issue coming out of oakland but the metering lights keeping the upper deck moving smoothly. lower your speeds, especially at the off ramps. keep that in mind. no problems off the east shore freeway. just a 20-minute drive off of the carquinez bridge approaching this area. as we look further south, southbound with the taillights around the bend and things have sorted themselves out nicely. we saw earlier slowing approaching the express lane but now a smooth drive over

this is a community technically part of pacifica but about two miles south of actual downtown pacifica. if you take a look behind me you can see where they've just reopened the roadway here where the flashing lights are. there were actually crews there when we first arrived about half an hour ago. they told us they had just cleared the road. it was just a matter of time before they opened it again to traffic. now officials shut it down last night just after 10:30 down to about seven miles north of half- moon bay. the road was blocked by a mud slide in the area known as devil's slide. it happened after rains and heavy wind whipped along the coast. crews found about 100 feet of mud in the southbound lanes just north of the highway sign. and according to to the chp website they initially thought they would be able to run one way traffic but that quickly changed and they were forced to issue an alert shutting down the road in both directions while they got out the bulldozers. back here live if you take a look out behind me here there's a denny's on the corner. it's too dark to make it out,
