joining me with analysis on where the president stands now is the rnc chairman, michael steele who just announced this week he will seek another term in that position. mr. chairman, appreciate you being here. >> good to be back. >> sean: wl street skwurpb says this is the worst congress in modern history. i'm not sure what to make of this omnibus in the senate. looks like this was good news this was the bill with 6,600 earmarks in it. >> eight billion dollars worth of earmarks. i want to send out a shout-out and applause and thanks to mitch mcconnell and leadership for drawing a bright line on the congress saying stop the spending. we don't need to do this now. the nation is tying to heal itself economically. let's keep these bush tax cuts in place. let's not see a massive inkeys in taxes on the american people, coupled with additional spending they can't afford in 2011. i applaud the senate leadership for drawing a bright line and standing firm. now we look to the house, on the tax bill to make sure that gets passed so there is not a massive tax increase on the american people. >> sean

and so what i proposed is that we at the rnc lead a campaign to put referenda on the ballot to repeal obama care in as many states as state law allows, which is nearly two dozen. what that does is prepares us for 2012 from a turnout perspective. but in 2011, it give soms constructive positive place for all the energy that exists in the grassroots and particularly in the tea party for conservative change, someplace to go, something to do so that we're not just talking about personalities, we're not as the r.n.c. just simply sitting on the sidelines while the presidential nominating contest is going on but instead we're preparing around shared mission, around shared principles to do something good for the country as well. and so those are the kinds of things that i think the next rnc chairman can do to make sure that people who sympathize with the tea party see the republican party as someplace that they can find a home in. >> and yet michael steel is one of those personalities. so let me conclude with this question. why is he not suited to be r.n.c. chair for two more years? >> i think
