he is not your convengeal rnc chair. that's appealing to some folks who would like to see the party as more of a big tent party. his comments earlier about jan brewer immigration law and saying that didn't represent the entire rit ght wing of the political party, that was palatable to some. he has said that he has foot in mouth disease, which some people would like to see turn into lockjaw when he says thing that we need to start appealing to everybody including one-armed midgets. this is a guy that doesn't have a big filter when talking about what he wants to do with the party. >> he does have the foot in mouth problem but has this administrative problem. bad manager of the budget apparently. which one of those is the bigger problem and which is the better way to campaign against him to beat him? >> i think the fund-raising issue is definitely the thorn in his side. it is definitely the thing that the other candidates have been talking about the most in their opening sort of volleys toward their candidacy. michael steel

he received a lot of criticism for his lack of fund-raising at the rnc and also for really mismanaging the republican message many critics said but last night in a private conference call with republican national committee members, ali, he said he is going to run. he acknowledged he had problems at the committee but always been forthright about some of his mistakes and said the fact of the matter is the rnc deserves a lot of credit for the electoral gains last month. he will run and he'll have a lot of competition for that post. election will happen in january. >>> up in alaska, joe miller is appealing a superior court judge ruling over the counting of ballots in that contested alaska senate election. miller is still upset. he doesn't think that these votes that are being contested should be counted. now, lisa murkowski, who is a republican, lost the primary to joe miller. won in november because she was running as a write-in candidate. they are now going to the state supreme court and they are going to be dealing with this on friday. so the alaska senate race still up for grabs. >> as

and so what i proposed is that we at the rnc lead a campaign to put referenda on the ballot to repeal obama care in as many states as state law allows, which is nearly two dozen. what that does is prepares us for 2012 from a turnout perspective. but in 2011, it give soms constructive positive place for all the energy that exists in the grassroots and particularly in the tea party for conservative change, someplace to go, something to do so that we're not just talking about personalities, we're not as the r.n.c. just simply sitting on the sidelines while the presidential nominating contest is going on but instead we're preparing around shared mission, around shared principles to do something good for the country as well. and so those are the kinds of things that i think the next rnc chairman can do to make sure that people who sympathize with the tea party see the republican party as someplace that they can find a home in. >> and yet michael steel is one of those personalities. so let me conclude with this question. why is he not suited to be r.n.c. chair for two more years? >> i think
