we'll look at the forecast with christina. we better enjoy today. >>> yes, judging by the picture behind you, very deceiving. we have a lot of rain on the way tonight into tomorrow. but the first part of today is looking really good. you'll need the jacket this morning. temperatures are in the 30s across the board. our temperatures have dropped a couple degrees in the last hour. the coldest point of the morning is at 6:50 a.m., which is sun rise this time of the year, so we have another 20 minutes of really, really cold before temperatures start to climb under the sun. down to a quarter mile of visibility right now up in the north bay. take it easy headed up there. we have reduced visibilities later on in the east bay. this is what we are expecting when it comes to tonight. rain showers approaching by about 7:00 p.m. moving into the north bay. look at the moisture heading into our area for the latter part of the day. rain all throughout the day for tomorrow for the first half, but localized flooding is something we are concern

christina? >> we're are watching this strong system and it's actually preceded by very, very unstable air. we have thunderstorms throughout the bay area. they are starting to subside a little bit and cooling off to the coldest point of the day. as christie pointed out, the winds are picking up. we have all this moisture and a strong front pushing in and that is kicking up the winds we will see much stronger rain and more stead rain as we head throughout the day. we are still on the warm side. the disturbed side. very unstable air. as we head throughout the day, the front comes through pushing in by about 9:00 a.m. and tomorrow this very, very cold air mass pushes into the bay area and that will keep temperatures down for tomorrow, probably going to struggle to break 54 degrees in most bay area cities. cold and wet for your saturday. right now it is certainly wet and dangerous out there for the commute this morning you want to give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination. the front to t

good morning to you, christina. the rain is definitely not really been the big issue near where we're at at the san mateo bridge. more of a wind issue you can see by the high wind advisory that caltrans posted on their sign for commuters heading across the san mateo bridge to the east bay. once they get across this is what they can expect. lots of gusts, you can see how much the wind has been shaking our san mateo bridge cam that is positioned on the hayward side of the span. add to that the rain and you have dangerous road conditions. you don't need to tell that to the driver of this car. it's a car that overturned on highway 92. fortunately he was able to walk away, indicating to us that yes, he was fully aware he made a mistake. he should have been watching his speeds around that wet curve. >> this is an example of what? >> just a little too fast for the weather conditions. when it starts raining people need to slow down a little bit. >> why do people forget? it's not like rain hasn't happened before. >> i don't

christina loren has a map that explains everything. good morning, christina. >> good morning to you. yes, i have actually a perfect classic. take a look at this. i don't have to say much. we have a classic low-pressure system. you see the counterclockwise rotation. when i step out of the way you can see how well developed this system is. it's a slow mover, it's dumping rain. especially at the coastline this morning. it looks like it's going to continue down the coast as we head throughout day today so let's zoom in and show you just how much rain is moving in right now. we have a lot of rain overnight. but we're seeing the bulk of the moisture from the system come through right now. you see how just in the past three hours the yellow starts to come up. heavy to moderate rain over the peninsula, starting to pick up yellow and red in vallejo, richmond and it will continue through the next few hours. that's why we have a flash flood watch in place for the entire coastline. but wherever you head you are likely going to be slowed down becau

nice weather on tap, christina? >> yeah, if you like to walk the dog in the rain you want to go out right now. but if you want the sun, just wait a couple hours. it is pretty breezy with wind speeds near 22 and 10 miles per hour. gusty in some locations, but that will change today as we have a tight pressure gradient with high pressure moving in. the clouds are arcing around this area of clearing. this is the clear sky we'll have overhead later on today. we do have a system of low pressure pushing off to the east. that is is creating a tight pressure gradient. the two are working against each other this morning. we have very windy conditions this morning as a result. and that will be the case until that system finally clears the area at about noon today. breezy conditions and little bit of shower activity along 580 in livermore. take it easy through there. temperatures are comfortable in the 60s later on. we have a lot of sunshine in terms of this week. we'll take you through the extended forecast coming up. now to

showers sparking up a little bit on christina's radar. >> yeah. that's the last thing you want right before we kick off rush hour. just about 13 minutes away from the beginning of rush hour, and we've got some pretty heavy rain coming down over the bay area. right now a solid line of showers from san francisco up to sacramento. you're going to find slick conditions, but right now my real concern is over san jose because they have been relatively dry overnight but get ready for steady rain to approach your area. if you live down in san jose or the south bay, it's moving in quick, and the showers are going to slow you down on the roadways so take it easy out there as well. don't want anybody to have any unnecessary accidents. as can you see though, once the showers kind of push on sure, they do break apart a little bit. what we're expecting today, on and off, light scattered activity. heavier periods of rain but won't last long. the shower activity will continue throughout the day today so you'll need the umbrella all day. kind of a bad day to make

we want to check in with christina. we are talking at the rain coming in. >> yeah, we have been talking about rain coming in for a while now. it is right on track to arrive in the bay area bringing the first showers into the north baby about 9:00 a.m. our temperatures this morning are pretty comfortable. we are in the 40s and the 50s out there. 47 degrees in san jose right now. and our temperatures are going to be pretty mild heading throughout this afternoon, but we are expecting those rain showers at 9:00 in the north bay spreading south. by noon we'll see a mostly wet bay area, but the showers are going to come in fast and leave just as fast as they came in. that's the bulk of the moisture here. here's the weather maker with a system of low pressure dropping into northern california and starting to bring about a little more moisture our way. we are noticing more sheen on the roadway as mike has been pointing out all morning long. the visibility is not perfect right now. we could see some pretty dense fog develop over
