ktvu's jade hernandez is live now with more on pg&e's plan. jade. >> reporter: good morning. this is the meeting where pg&e pipeline is buried. now pipeline gas line 132a is a small feeder line which feeds right into a major pipeline right here at middlefield road and shoreline boulevard. we can show you this morning that meeting where that pipeline at this intersection is buried. gas line 132a as i mentioned is a small feeder line. pg&e will be testing it later today. if gas line 132 sounds familiar, it should. it's the same line which runs up the peninsula and exploded in san bruno last fall. a few weeks ago pg&e held a meeting. the utility alerted neighbors they would be testing the pipeline today. the pipeline runs under businesses and homes from shoreline golf links to the middle school. pg&e says they still aren't sure who will pay for the testing which is expected to cost as much as half a million dollars. this is what residents can expect to either hear or see today. you're looking at video provided by pg&e of high pressure water testing. the gas inside 132a will be q

jade. >> reporter: that's right. a routine traffic stop, a dramatic shootout, a man hunt and arrest. for some who were just shopping at the atlantic plaza shopping center it was all just too much. >> when i got off the bus i just seen two brothers run across the street. that's all i know. >> reporter: news chopper 2 shows us the scene after shots rang out around 35:30 yesterday evening. a pittsburg police officer on patrol noticed a car roll through a stop sign. instead of pulling over the suspect sped off forcing the officer into a short chase. but the suspect driving wasn't about to give up there. he got out, pulled out a gun and opened fire on the officer still sitting in his patrol car. the officer, a 13 year veteran of the pittsburg police force, returned fire. but the suspect managed to get past west boulevard and maudlin street until hours later where 27-year-old jones was tracked to a fourplex, the home of an acquaintance. police arrested jones who was shot in the leg. the officer involved in the shootout wal

ktvu's jade hernandez is at the police command center now. so, jade, what do we know right now? >> reporter: well, six hours after this deadly shooting happened you can see that this neighborhood is still blocked off. dave, also the command center is out here as well. it's parked near where the shooting took place. it's hard to see the car involved, but it's that white car. a jetta just past the blue suv in the foreground. we've tried contacting the spokesman for the department this morning and we're sit waiting to hear back from him. so far this is what we know from the information he provided shortly after the deadly shooting took place. someone reported hearing shots fired after 11:00 last night at checkers here in east san jose. when police arrived they found a man bleeding in the street with gunshot wounds. he died at the hospital. his identity isn't being released because family members have not been notified. the shooting took place in the neighborhood filled with apartment complexes. at this point we only know police are looking for at least one suspect, possibly more. w

good morning, jade. >> reporter: good morning. the sheriff's office canvassed this area thoroughly last night and they are speaking to a few people who may have heard something like the man we heard from just a few moments ago. listen. >> got a man down in the corner and only one officer came in here out of the whole police station with his car up the other side of the block while the others waited at the gate. i don't know if they were instructed to do so, but by the time they were ready to take action everybody was ready to take their own. >> reporter: we've also learned within the past hour the man shot to death may be from this rodeo neighborhood. so far no witnesses to the shooting death. and we understand that the man probably was shot multiple times while sitting in his van. now the sheriff's office says this morning that it was a white van parked near the intersection in this neighborhood. investigators found no drugs or guns in the van and don't believe at this point that the young man killed last night was doing anything

jade. >> reporter: that is right. the facebook page created to facilitate information about this four month old reports very good news this morning. the profile picture says it all. located safe. this morning the contra costa county sheriffs office says the four-month-old had been found hours before 3:30 this morning. we still don't know how the baby is fairing or the circumstances surrounding her discovery. we do know there was an extensive search with dozens of volunteers and canine units. this is a picture of the baby found. it's unclear how a four-month- old disappeared from her bassinet. she put the little one down tousled around 10:00 saturday night. eight hours later she was gone from her crib. 20 minutes after finding their baby gone they called help. the authorities couldn't explain why it took so long to contact authorities but they did not suspect foul play. the search pulled in about 100 law enforcement officials, canine units along with volunteers. the family lives along tool lane in knightsen. >> we don'

jade. >> reporter: that's right. that's the car that was involved in a routine traffic stop which turned into a gun battle and man hunt with a pittsburg police officer. crime tape is still up this morning and there are several squad cars still out here. this shows you the significance of the shootout yesterday evening. news chopper 2 shows you the scene here last night shortly after 5:30 when a pittsburg police officer noticed a car drive through a stop sign. the officer tried to pull the driver over, and the suspect sped off. the short chase ended behind a wells fargo bank. the driver got out and began shooting at the pittsburg police officer. the officer a 13 year veteran of the police force fired back. that's when the suspect ran. he made it past west boulevard and mad lin street where police lost sight of him. police say the suspect, 27-year- old jones took off toward a fourplex, the home of an acquaintance. >> he was able to climb into the attic. he did have a cellular phone he had access to. our canine track di

jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> time now 6:06. new reports this morning now identifying the housekeeper who has the child fathered by arnold schwarzenegger. she's identified as 50-year-old mildred patricia baena who goes by the name patty. she worked in the schwarzenegger family home for 20 years before retiring in january. and there are reports she didn't tell schwarzenegger about the child until the child was a toddler. he's now said to be about 14 years old. new york times says baena was working at the home and was pregnant at the same time maria shriver was pregnant with the youngest of the schwarzenegger's four children. now maria shriver issued this statement. she says "this is a painful and heartbreaking time. as a mother, my concern is for the children ." >>> this morning san francisco police are looking for the gunman responsible for a shooting near usf. investigators say a 22-year-old man was shot several times while sitting in his car late monday night. the victim managed to drive himself to the richmond police station

ktvu's jade hernandez just arrived there on scene. she's with us live now with the latest. >> reporter: good morning. within the last hour we've learned that the man shot along this trail is undergoing surgery right now. he was shot in the shoulder. his family called pittsburg police when they discovered what happened last night. pittsburg police have turned over this investigation to the east bay regional park police because the shooting took place on the trail which is park jurisdiction. this was the scene just about 20 minutes ago. we've been told by police this morning the young man shot said he was along the trail near crestview avenue around 11:30 last night when one of four men shot at him two or three times. only one of the four men, the victim said, had a gun. the victim would not say if he knew or had a connection with the suspect. but the victim does live in the neighborhood and near the trail. park police believe the shooting was not random. >> there were some gang affiliations and some words exchanged it would suggest tha

jade hernandez is there to show us the damage and talk about what is going on now. >> reporter: good morning, dave. i can show you they are working to board this home up. we are live in oakley this morning. you can see the top story of this home gone. the roof is gone. this house damaged. we are live along bay view drive. you have to see the flames. the call for help came into the fire department around 11:00 last night. no one was hurt. it did take a little more than a half hour to get this fire under control. multiple calls came in about flames. the first fire truck saw the flames from a mile away. by the time they arrived it was fully engulfed. no one was home as i mentioned. firefighters have not been able to get ahold of the homeowners. ten engines were called out to fight this fire. >> single family resident with a shake roof and stucco side. these houses are pretty close to each other. we did have flames coming from the sides of the house impinging on both the neighbors houses. we were able to keep the fire out of both neighbor houses. >> reporter: we spoke to the neighbor on

jade hernandez is live from pittsburg telling us about the shooting and the arrest. jade? >> reporter: that's right. the 27-year-old man got out of that car and fired at a police officer. >> he did, in fact, suffer a gunshot wound to the leg. we believe that was probably during exchange of gunfire where our after was returning fire where he sustained -- officer was returning fire where he sustained that injury. he's been transported to john muir medical center. >> reporter: authorities arrested jones, who has a extensive criminal history. this is what we know from police this morning -- it happened around 5:35 yesterday evening. a pittsburgh police officer on patrol noticed a car near a shop center. the officer tried to pull the suspect, jones over. but jones opened up fire on the officer. the officer, a 30-year veteran, returned fire and police arrested jones. eight bullets pierced the police officer's car. one bullet came dangerously close to his head and lodged in the case where his head rests. the officer is alive. investigators should be out here sometime later this m
